What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

Near Hobby Airport.

Just scored a $28 Snap-on scanner primary cartridge covering 96-2001. Hard to find and usually about $65 used. Now I can also debug the 2001 Saturn and the Renix XJs.

Got a new cat installed as well as the dynomax system I bought with raffle prize gift certs.

I thought the rattling noise I had was from the old tailpipe rattling on the gas tank skid but I guess not. I'll have to see what it is after the rain stops.

Getting new glass put in Friday.

Except the side window. Guy can't source it. Trying to find a used one.

Did she break all of the windows? I thought it was just the rear side window.

Trimmed the front fenders just before the rain started in. Upload pics later.

Wow Islander that sucks.

Dan I really like the looks of those goodyears. Been thinking 4.5 and 33's are in the future, may just have to grab some of those goodyears, I think they will cost more than I spent on the jeep. Those pics are just the sort of encouragement I need.

I've had mine since they came out. I really like them. Been thinking of getting something different just because. I've put my tires through a lot of crap, pinching them on rocks and such. Went to Hot Springs and those rocks are sharp, it cut them up pretty good. But that could happen to any tire up there.

Im really excited to get it out on the trail and USE it. as far as oversized offroad tires go, these werent awful. i think i paid 1100 for wheels and tires. Wheels from summit and tires from amazon.

Made this to cover up a hole for the broken ashtray, have to add a couple switches before I mount it. Also went ahead and blacked out the grill and headlight bezels.

Now time to pick the lift....will order it no later than the second week of next month depending on suprises...leaning toward the rough country x series. It looks like the most complete thing out there right now in my budget, and really most everything needs to be replaced on the jeep.

I've had a rattling ever since ROM somewhere towards the rear of the XJ. I thought it was my tailpipe rattling on the gas tank skid as I had that when I first installed the new tank/skid and it sounds similar. I had my new exhaust put in including the cat but I still have the rattle.

I only get the rattle when I am in the throttle, in other words it doesn't rattle when coasting. The rattle seems to depend on speed, but not directly. I climbed under the jeep yesterday and checked all the bolts for the rear (shocks, u-bolts, rear brake bolts, drive shaft, leaf bolts) and didn't find anything loose. I'm really at a loss with this.

Be interested in what you find. Ditto on mine... checked everything and figured it was my rear tire carried. However locked it down REAL TIGHT and still get rattle???

OK a week ago I got the p0122 error the Throttle Position Sensor. The Jeep was running sluggish except when not on throttle or hard on it. Replaced with a Borg Warner from OReilly's.
Drove yesterday into town and back 40ish miles and was good as ever. Took out last night and same old sluggish back and now the error again :(

Did I get a bad sensor or is there something else to check. Wiring looks good and protected within the harness... maybe something I can check or clean underneath?

Thanks!

Sounds like my front calipers are rattling again. Brakes are squeaking nicely too. Can't win with this thing anymore. Might investigate this weekend depending on my back.

A lot of XJ'ers say to use OEM TPS and CPS only. So yes,

"Took out last night and same old sluggish back and now the error again"

maybe it is a bad one. I have had hell with aftermarket parts the last 3 years after years of no problems.Or a wiring or connector problem, including a possible intermittent ground fault..Thought I was done with the Ford finally, and while the transmission repair held, got a new misfire code, O2 sensor heater code error and another error I need to look up, and a no response to throttle, static RPM reading at WOT report back from my sons test drive. Oh bother said Pooh. The 89-2WD and 87 Wagoneer Jeeps are in DD service doing fine for now.:yelclap:

Went to a club meet last night...as I came to a stop I noticed smoke coming from the front driver side hood area.

Got to the meet, like a few minutes away, and I could smell something like rubber burning. Looked all around couldn't see anything. Turned the vehicle back on, could then smell something for a brief moment, then nothing.

Drove home and there was less smoke/smell, but when I got home and got out, I could smell the burnt rubber smell again...also noticed my front driverside brake not working...

Wondering if my brake is rubbing something and causing the burn, When I got home it was starting to rain and it was dark. Will have to check it out some other time.

My guess would be the caliper is seized and the burning rubber smell is the seal for the piston.

With regards to my rattling noise, I drained and refilled my rear diff (oil looked fine), removed the bump stop that was held on with one bolt and twisted, removed the cover for the fuel inlet and breather lines that was held with 2 of the four bolts; all for no change in the rattling sound.

I'm going to my buddy's place this weekend, so hopefully we can figure it out together.
