What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

*almost* cut off the articulating tailpipe and then realized I had the wrong size exhaust tubing to replace it with. Somebody put some 2" on this bad boy
 
Have you tried ebay (out of China) or Dorman or NAPA? Even Amazon may have them?

I got about $800 worth (at AZ prices) of 1987 GM Weatherpack fittings for my jeeps for about $20 on Ebay. I think Dorman has an entire pdf catalog for electrical fittings. I posted links to all this here in OEM section about 4-7 years ago.

OK never ending story :( I replaced the blower motor (probably was good) and went to replace the resistor. As you can see by the photos the resistor must have shorted and fried the connector. I will try and find a replacement online but I’d guess they are part of the harness. So I need to go to the JY and cut one off and splice on. Does anyone know if this connector varies pre 97 and the after 97 models? My 87 is at a friend’s house and I can’t check. Don’t want to have to mess around the JY too awful long ;)

Ad for one popped up on craigslist. Guy pulled it out of a picknpull a couple years ago and never swapped it into his.
 
Nothing yet... waiting on guy in Houston that wants both but can't get cash together. Wants payments... and I'm done with "helping" people where money and Jeeps are concerned ;)
 
OK finally picked up my 242 :) called my bud with the lift who is switching them out for me. He said he was checking things out to move Jeep so to get on lift. He said it actually sounds like just out of adjustment when being put in gear?

Does that sound probable? He is looking into it closer before we swap out :)

Linkage could maybe use some adjustment. Hopefully its an easy fix so now you have a spare 242!
 
I hope it's just linkage adjustment :) I think this jeep is the only one I have with the 242? I'm selling it so wouldn't need the spare .... fingers crossed.
 
Yes that is possible. Mine has that problem due to lots of slop in the linkage from a worn out linkage bearing and rust. I got the linkage and bearing parts to swap it all out on my 87 Waggy-XJ but never got around to it. So I do not use the 4x4. Mine is mostly a DD. It also had black mollasses in it when I changed the fluid to fresh Dex III years ago. Amazing the abuse they can take.
