What was done to YOUR rig(XJ/MJ) today MECHANICALY????

I have a both black front and rear bumpers that I removed to put my smittybilt a on. Both are nice and straight. I live north of Conroe.

Do you ever get near north Houston, airport, beltway area?

I will be heading north on I-45 to dallas for thanksgiving!!!

I make it down that way every now and then

I commute 2-3 times a week up to the 249/beltway 8 area.

I found and repaired enough of my vacuum leaks for my AC to work correctly, and I tried fairly hard to break something/anything at Hidden Falls over the weekend and failed.

Lowered the xj down, installed a double shear track bar and cut the fenders to clear the 35's it was a busy day but got it all done

Found out the 30's are rubbing when I turn if I have more than just me in the Jeep

guess I need more lift!

Made a deal to buy and save the 1984, 4x4, XJ, 4 banger 2.5 gasser....2 door jeep. $450 as is where is.

i was planning on wheeling it this weekend, but got opted out for my lack of rear recovery points. so no wheeling till i build/buy my rear bumper. :looser:

Do you have a rear hitch? Just get one of the D-shackles that go into your receiver hitch. That's all alot of us do. Works great

Did some interesting brake work on my 87 Waggy today. Replaced one rear drum, pass side, lubed the adjusters, replaced the rotor on the drivers side front, and the pads on the passenger side front. Bleed the combo valve again, and rear brakes and ran out of daylight. The drum and rotor were at or barely past the wear limits, the other two were nearly new.

I still have a mushy marshmellow like brake peddle with the engine running, but great hard peddle with the engine off, but I feel more braking power than before. We did get more air out the lines this time, which was amazing, since we bleed this beast about 100 times with about 2 gallons of brake fluid the past year trying to solve the mush problem.

The master cylinder is nearly new (not rebuilt), maybe 6 months and the Vac booster is barely 2 years old, and working fine.

i have the same mushy problem, only moving forward though. in reverse its a nice firm pedal

Worked on it again today, and have just about concluded it may be the MC, even though it is new, not rebuilt. The brake peddle is very firm and normal with the engine off, but turns to mush with the engine on (vacuum applied). I am thinking the MC must have the wrong packing cup seals installed, and they by pass, leak, at the higher pressure under vacuum? We re-bled and got air out of 3 of 4 lines, no idea where the new air came from either, as there is, has been no fluid loss, or leaks, and it has been bleed many times before.

Flushed my heater core today, and now have some marginal heat.:sunshine:versus no heat, so I may not freeze in the dark this winter afterall.
