B-Rad, what gear ratio does that thing have?
B-Rad, what gear ratio does that thing have?
My list went from the grandiose swap axles, regear front, swap t-case to.........Fix the front axle. Seems like when I get on it to hard in 4wd it makes a grinding noise. Gonna pop the cover and find out whats wrong. it doesn't sound like its missing teeth like its owner.....Its silent in 2wd.
don't discount the t-case chain or the front driveshaft.
My odd noises in 4wd were front D shaft cardan joint. Never made a sound in 2WD.
Aaron, that's funny that you're bashing yourself before we have the chance. LOL .
fore 'you are a good sport' wheeler
It really sounds like something ratcheting really fast....sorta like broken locker pins. It could be the T-case Chain and I will check the front Shaft as well. Hope its not the case because there is no way I can get it swapped, the 8.8 in and the front regeared before WF.
like a chain slipping on a sprocket?
Check your linkage to make sure it's fully in 4WD. It may work fine until you pull hard, then slip out. Either that or locker ratcheting like you were thinking.
yeah.......Shut up Tim, I don't wanna think about that. :looser: I have a case but its got an SYE on it........
Ill trade you a tcase without a slip yolk. Itll bolt right in.
X2 on the linkage. Mine needs adjusted as well but it needs heated to break it free
I'll check that too. How can I determine if the chain is stretched or not? Slop in the case?
split the case and measure the slack, or see the rounded off teeth on the sprockets.
You can swap the guts from your SYE case to the yoke case temporarily. Josh and I frankensteined one on a picnic table, you can get it done.
Trailer goes in for new tires on Friday.
Say goodbye to the Carlisles.
