What I did over the long holiday weekend.

I decided to attempt to break up the god awful teal color on my Jeep for Columbus Day...

Started about 8 this morning, stripped all the moldling, flares, and other bits off of it, then wet sanded the lower portion that i was going to paint. Taped it all off, and sprayed two coats of semi-flat black enamel, follwed up by two coats of rubberized textured black paint. Its not quite as rough as a bedliner type of coating, its about twice as rough as an orange.... (kind of hard to describe) It's basically the same stuff I use to coat all of my armor.

I think it turned out pretty good, now the teal isnt quite so 'in your face" (at least thats what I am telling myself)

Few more poser shots below. I am tired of working on this thing, I need to go get it dirty and do some camping before it gets too cold.

I also painted the center section of my hood with the same stuff on
Friday. It helped tremendously with the glare off of the overhead lights.

I also installed my Limb Risers, kind of hard to see in the pics, but they are there.

Wow dude, nice work, I really like the look of your XJ!

How do you think that stuff will hold up on the hood w/ all the heat the engine puts off?

Thanks man, Im honestly not sure how it will hold up. I know the hoods get very hot, but I dont think it will be enough to do any harm to the coating. I have had the hood done now for about 4 days, and havent noticed any problems so far. I am planning to install some hood vents very soon, so hopefully that will help with the engine compartment/hood heat.

looks amazing man:D! thats one badass xj!

Branch clearance. It keeps tree branches and low hanging stuff from hitting the windshield.

Bah.

What do you know? You're just showing your newbiness!

They're for hanging your laundry while camping :D

They do both of those things pretty well actually. :) But yeah, they are called limb risers. The forests trails around here where I wheel are narrow and full of low lying hardwood limbs.

The only guy on here with the identical paint color(that I know of) goes and makes it two toned!

haha

Actually it looks really nice I love how textured the "rubber" is.
