What did you do to your XJ today

Put the new power steering box on. Fixed half of my problem. Dry steering is fine aired up but still super hard to turn aired down to 10psi on the pavement. Im done with it now. I have changed both the box and pump two times in the last month. I am officially ready for hydro steering.

I would let you try my yj box lying around. It has a variable ratio instead of fixed, or vice versa but it may make things move a bit nicer. If it doesnt help just give it back it will be a no charge rental. If it does help $40 bucks and its yours. Plus its a four bolt box so if you have tnt customs 4 bolt frame plate or something similiar it will strengthen up things a bit.

Tried a WJ pump with a 4.5" pulley?

Thanks for the offer, but I am going to try one last thing which I think is the culprit. I was messing with it again today and noticed I have some up and down play in my drivers side knuckle ball joints. Its not much but Im thinking that could be causing some heavy resistance, anyone think the same or have had this problem?

Should be able to jack up that tire, yank the tie-rod bolt and move it by hand. I would think if there's enough resistance to bog down the PS pump, you will be able to feel it by hand.

Bent some tube and started my passenger side plating. oh, I started my front bumper

Dustin, It turns easy by hand when the Jeep is jacked up and no weight is on the tires, but not so when on the ground....this is what is puzzling me.
I've read conflicting reports about ball joints. Some say that up and down movement is ok if its not much and some say its bad? So I think I will mess around with things to try and find the problem.

Installed a Felpro valve cover gasket to stop the oil leak. Installed a 600 watt rms amp, stealthbox with 10 inch Alpine Type R sub and 4 Cerwin Vega 6.5 inch speakers. No cutting to the door was needed but of course, they didn't sit flush so I used longer screws and made new mounting points. Still need to cut holes so I can put my Cerwin Vega shields on. Oh yeah, installed my deck too.

Got my winch back from Warn. They found a bunch of water in the gear train, due to the two piece clutch lever design used on my model (goofy design that always bugged me). The motor checked out fine, and so did all the electrical. A new clutch gear, and one piece clutch lever were installed. Best part was it was all covered under the lifetime warranty.

Now I remember why I went with a Warn. ;)

I just re-spooled the cable, and all works perfectly.

Ok finally started doing some things on the jeep today. Cut the fenders and worked on my flares, still have some more forming to do to get them where I want it to be but it is getting there though.

I replaced my fuel pump today, I started to yesterday and the nuts for the tank strap were being a B***H to loosen so I took it over to a friends shop and used his air tools to get them loose. It was nice not doing the pump in the dirt driveway. I got tired of getting dirt in my eyes so I have to put my skid plate on tomorro.

What are you using to make those?

 Ok I know I'm most likely not going to live this one up but hey, I can't afford to get some bushwhacker flares like I would like to so I picked this tuff up at home depot for like $20 and with a little time and a heat gun can get something that somewhat looks like the bushwhacker flat flares.

So I get some fender flares that I am starting to like and get to keep a extra $300+ in my pocket lol

I like it, gets the job done and nothing to cry over when you break it on a tree

Yeah it will be a cheap fix when I smack a tree, we all know that is a when not a if lol. Funny thing is after I thought about doing it and bought the stuff from HD I found a thread on another forum of a guy that had just got through doing the same thing lol. Least I know I'm not the only one that don't want to spend bushwhacker prices for flares that will get broke.
