What did you do to your XJ today

Finally painted and installed my custom front winch bumper. It was dark when I finished so i will put up pictures tomorrow.

I mocked up my JCR stage 3's today. I decided to drill and tap the holes on the unibody stiffeners instead of using the self tapping bolts. That way I can go with grade 8 hardware on them. Sure takes a while drilling when you have to graduate to larger size bits each time your done with the smaller one. As soon as my Logan's Metal's bumper arrives (hopefully tomorrow) I will be able to send both the sliders and the bumper to powder coat and then install!

As some know I ripped off my old stainless brake line at TSF this last Saturday. So I went to a local shop called Tubes and Hoses and had them make me a set of "hard to break" break lines. These things are stout! They hit the pocket book though, but I figured breaks are kinda important, haha. I got them installed tonight and bled the breaks. I have a slow seepage on both sides that I need to fix but its 10pm and I have to go to work tomorrow.

Still fighting with my brakes. I cant seem to get them to seal good. I have re-flared the ends multiple times. I got the drivers side to seal but the passenger side is still seeping a little. I will tackle that later. I decided to mock up my front bumper today so I can get it ready for powder coat. I still need to find a place for my fog lights and weld some tabs on. I dont want to block the lights or radiator an any way I can. I think they will go on each side just in front of the winch. Here is a shot of it as it sits right now.

tried teflon tape?
 
That is a awesome bumper... Did you get it off the guy building them off of CF?
 
Teflon would only work on the threads. I put some on the threads anyway because it keeps it easier to take off in the future, cause it seems I have this problem allot with any rig I take offroad. Its a double flare, and my flare stuff will only allow me to do single. This is why I think I am having an issue. It can be done but its a pain in the butt.

Oh yeah, that bumper is a Logan's Metals, and it looks good. Craftsmanship is great but the wait for the bumper is to be desired at over a month. I was thinking about a hoop on it or small stinger but Its growing on me the way it is.

Brake lines have to be double flare to seal correctly. Also it is a safety issue not to double flare brake lines. To bad I didn't know before I would have brought my flare kit with me.

Its technically only a safety issue on aluminum tube not steel. Its a double flare to prevent cutting of the flare while installing the aluminum lines. It does seal way better and is stronger but I will roll with it for now since I'm sick and tired of working on it, and now that I have the leaks fixed. I need to focus on fixing my steering which is more of a safety issue at this moment, maybe after that I will conquer the brake lines, and I may hit ya up on that flare kit or just go buy a nice kit.
