What did you do to your XJ today

no probubly eventually ill make some sliders and i what i also want to do is
1.Put an exo cage around it
2.Make a back bumper
3.Make a front bumper
4.Number 1 probubly should be getting an sye kit haha but it think ill figure something out haha
5.Replace my back left axle shaft. found out it was bent haha

But i think what i'm gonna ask for my B-day present is a bunch of tubing and may a cheap tube bender haha or i actually think i know someone that owns one of those. So instead of the tube bender maybe a welder haha but i highly doubt that'll happen haha

Yeah, a SYE kit is also in the works for me. I'm getting some vibes from the rear drive line due to angle and very little spline contact with the stock shaft. I still dont know what I'm going to do with it since I dont have the np231.

RE hack and tap works on the 242

I stared at my pile of parts today.

Ive rebuilt transfercases before dustin, but not the 231's. I would be glad to help if you need it.

:guitar: back yard is under-construction.

Fed them after midnight, didja? :twak:

:laugh3:

Damn it John !!! I told you no food after mid-night and absolutely NO WATER !!!

but they were hungry. who can turn away from thoes, ltl gremmy eyes.

really tough, my rock lights on the radio circut caused my ECM to totaly Freek out. shut down my NSS, EGR, CAT, and o2 sensors. in the end i had 18" of corotion in the ground wire off the batt. guess what i did finaly toasted the grounds...

lesson learned. when into OBDII run new circuts for ALL upgrades. on the up side i know all of my connections/ sensors are good to go now :banghead:

Bronze.

sounds like you made progress if there is a pile now!

I can tell you're a "glass is half full" type of guy.

As for today, lets see...

Found the part to complete my pile of parts.
I then assembled my pile of parts into a semi functioning unit.
Unfortunately semi functional isn't going to cut it, so tomorrow I will be back to dealing with a pile of parts. :thumbdn:

hahaha yeah i'm jack wells's nephew

Cool Cool. Were you at Dune Fest with him?

Well you know by now I dont let grass grow under my feet.....or the Jeep for that matter. I just finished the install on my new flat flares. I did much more then they wanted in there instructions. I did not do the cut and fold method which to me is a hack job and looks the part as well. I decided to part the seams then re-weld them for a much better end result, and a stronger connection between body panels. Doing it this way yielded about 3 hours per side extra. Here are some pics to show my progress of the rear install. The front was just too easy, some simple cutting was all that I did to make those fit.

First I drilled out the factory spot welds. Then I peeled back the outer layer of the body exposing the inner layer. Most would have probably crapped there pants when seeing they had cut into the body this far.....oh but not me...lol Its demo time!

Next I carefully cut and bent the inner layer to form with the outer one creating a joint to weld up. I tacked it in place......man is this stuff thin!

After that I proceeded with the welding and grinding smooth.

Then I put a coat of primer on to seal things up.

Here is the flares installed and finished. I have decent clearance now. Hopefully I wont rub on them or I will have to install longer bumpstops.

If this belongs in a tech writeup section feel free to move it, but there's not much tech involve.
