Yes I know but they were the only one to have high pinions. Dodge and Chevy were all low. And yes your correct Ford did also have low pinions. The less desirable in my opnion. I want my axle to be stronger going forward, not reverse. I don't do alot of offroading while driving in reverse.

I wouldn't say that after all you have only had that Cherokee a little while. You probably just jinxed yourself!!! Besides late models break just like the early ones do.

Like you said I don't wheel mine very often or my turd would be broken once and a while too.

I spy weld on wedges!!!! Couple hours with a grinder and you'll have bare tubes

I wonder if its a 76 or 77 Ford axle? Disc breaks. Or older than 76 and drum breaks?
