Your an animal Aaron. I made it threw unscathed I have a few new scratches whats new. I also have a steering issue my wheel is now turned when I am driving straight.

I drove an hour and 30 minutes and about an hour away I started spewing white smoke from under the jeep (transmission fluid). It was full when I left and empty when I got there and would barely shift gears. I put some fluid in it and it shifted again so i headed the rest of the way to the trail. About 5 minutes from the camp site my engine started squealing something fierce and I broke my serpentine belt. My buddy towed me the rest of the way to camp then he went and got me another belt (hour drive round trip). When he got back with it it turned out that the alternator pulley was froze solid and the water pump pulley was wiggling too. Turns out that the seal and all the ball bearings fell out of back of alternator causing the shaft to seize. Then he towed me all the way back to parts store the next morning and they didn't have a freaking alternator for a Cherokee (Advance Auto should be shot, I am writing Corperate). So he towed me 2 hours back home, I got the alternator back on and the water pump started spraying coolant out on the ground. I think my engine tranny got really hot because the water pump failed and I think that I was just boiling my tranny fluid out of the overflow. Hopefully the tranny survived and I got to go get another water pump. All in all at least I got to put a hurting on a 12 pack of beer at the campfire last night. What a SHITTY trip! Did I mention that this was my Maiden voyage after a almost 2 year build, the only things I didn't touch were the engine and tranny and they had no problems last time they were used. :-(

How did you break the glass? Tree branch? Seems like your bumper would protect it a little bit.

freakin broke the drivers side rear 44 shaft! Just playing around on some back dirt roads and climbs/ledges outside of yakima. My buddy just got back in town from wyo tech and wanted to take his tracker for a spin before our run this weekend. So now I need to find a new shaft before this weekend! Anyone?

It takes a special kind of person to break a D44 shaft :patriot:

Welcome to the club !

Only on 35s and still the stock H.O, auto, and 242! I was really suprised.

For some reason a 44 is starting to decrease in appeal for me :dunno: Maybe should look more in to the 8.8 :gag:

All I have to say is Ford 9" or better. I was always told you an run up to 35s on a ford 9" after that you had better start thinking about going up an axle size. I am sure alloys would help but why take that chance I would rather have some room for error.

In the axles defense. I did have it welded, welded the valleys in the spiders far enough apart to allow some "slack" when turning corners during daily driving. Probably what caused an abrupt force on the shaft enough to sheer it.
