What did I do to my XJ today? (Post your XJ TECH happenings)

Re: What did I do to my XJ today? (Post your XJ happenings)

took my xj out to see if i needed longer bump stops and longer shocks, come to find out i do =/ i can flex all the way into the fender and touching in spots so that tells me i need bump stops... and my brake lines still have alot of play in them so looks like i need some more droop too ;) the shocks i have now when fully stuffed still have about 2-2.5" of uptravel before their topped out and my shocks were built for a 3" lift so i know being at 4.5" i need longer shocks.
fully compressed

Pulled into a shop today to turn in some cash I owed for a new drag link. That was gonna be it, simple enough so I jump in my jeep and turn the key and it wont start. So im thinking batterey, starter...? Checked the connections all tight and tried to bypass the battery with a screw driver on the starter but still nothing. So double check the connections again and do a once over on wireing and fuses and this time I decided to clean the terminals and what do you know the possitive wire somehow pretty much melted through the end connector female piece. Nothing wrong with the wires though, just the base was completly melted through. Luckily I was at the shop and put on a new and fired right up. Simple enough for something that took about an hour. Thats what I did!

I installed a new e brake and I am now considering heading to a junkyard to shop for a 44 rear if this cold i picked up can play nice.

Just a reminder, this thread is for posting up what you did TECH-wise to your XJ. General chit-chat, non-technical related postings will be deleted.

On that note, I replaced both CCV grommets and their associated tubes on my 89 Renix 4.0 today.

I took my axles down to get them regeared. Working doing better bumpstops than what i had. Undercoating the jeep too. Also fixing my passenger door so it no longer leaks water!
