What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

You know, I'm just a couple of miles from you. If you ever need a garage to work in, let me know.

That would not have worked out this time since that piece of gravel was in there and I was not sure what was causing the issue. I did not want to wreck the joint, so I parked it.

That having been said, that is a very generous offer and I may take you up on it some time.

Unless that piece of gravel was a diamond, It should have ground up in that joint..... can't imagine it would have been strong enough to bind up the joint's rotation to where you'd have felt it. If it were strong enough to do that, sure seems like there'd be much worse damage to the bearing balls, cup and race.

Amirite? :dunno:

There isn't enough force in there for that gravel to turn to dust. The clearance between the bearing, race, and cup is about a sheet of paper. Debris that size would only wedge itself for a second before being spit back out. Which would cause the random jerk to the driver's side. I agree after I cleaned it out that it likely would not have damaged the joint. But physics demands that it would have momentarily bound the joint anytime it caught a bearing where it meets the race.

She runs, quite well, drives, rather straight, and even moves around how shes supposed too. Eventually gonna really fight to lengthen the trackbar. No wobbles but the bit of bumpsteer is annoying. Oh And troys new car is sexy. I was being a jealous bitch when i saw it.

The rig looks great..but for someone who gave me loads of shit for having a what they considered tall I find it odd ish that the first body style line above ro kers is higher above the tire than it was on my Jeep on 40s thus yours is taller...hmmmm ...lol.

I did not want to make tube doors for the rear as I I really did not have room for them if trying to bolt door skins to them since the door skins were a last minute reconsideration for shelter from rain and tube was already dropped making it not plausible ...so I found room to slide skins in behind the double b pillar and have pop into the door space...however I'm not sure How long they will last since I made them removeable by drilling 3 holes for studs to pop through at rear of the door and then weld some 7/8 ths bolts to the inner frame by there heads the door fits nicely on these and bolts down tight and slides on and off with one hand by the or door handle ...however I see it getting beat up fast especially with doors off and those studs sitting there ...lol...mostly if a rock gets into the door pillar area...

Yeah. It sat about 2" lower but had to play with shackle angle some as I was bottoming out on the relocation boxes. When I go to the poly boxes it'll drop back down.

Not exactly how I would put it but I would say that it is a nice looking ride, well done Mike!!

Hahaha. Thanks man. Still lots of adjustments to make and things to add but she's getting there.
Feel accomplished for rolling it into and out the garage myself with all hands tools only.

Mine is out for the count right now.... Have a knock in the motor that I have not been able to address, it needs a new proportioning valve and some line on the rear axle..... no time for me ..... been working double shifts nearly every work day...... :banghead::greensmok

I hear ya man. Took me taking a few days off work here and there to finally get this thing on the road. Just no free time it seems. Always how it works.

Well, finally got some work done to the hoopty. Gas tank relocate is basically done, and been hitting the boat sides hard. I cut up to the bottom of the hinges, and removed most of the floor to the frame rail. I started making the braces, 2x2x3/16, 5 a side so far, but I thought I'd see if anyone here had an opinion. My rear brace is tied into the front of the spring mount that I already plated in 3/16, but I'm not sure if I should add a 6th brace to the top of the spring mount/floor. I'll be adding 16g for the floors and skins. Thoughts?

My sides are over kill I will hole saw the skins when I skin the skin with UHMW....but 16g sheet is too wimpy to cover The support bars as skid plate material ...14g as backing for UHMW ...stand alone .125 minimum...lol...My sides are pure beef but when I roll hard stuff the door skins will be off and weight I lost from real doors and body parts equals out for the piece of mind knowing this shut will no doubt hold the rig together on a roll .

Got the new track bar bracket pretty much welded in place....... And ran out of gas. Of course. On a weekend. When everyone is closed. Hoping to get gas, burn in a few pieces, and test everything Tuesday before heading up Wednesday. Always a crunch. Should have let it be til after cofest.

Too bad you aren't closer. I could loan you my bottle.
