What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

Well balls. 17's are gonna be a bit much for a BB xj. So the black moabs go on brothers wk and the search for wheels for sisters rig continues.

Scored a hella good deal on another 5.3 LM7 motor today. Paid $150! Tearing it down this weekend.

This will eventually be going into the XJ. I'll spend the next year accumulating the parts and then install it after this season is over. I'd actually like to wheel with you guys in 2014.

Dude, you need to let me in on where you find these deals.

Lol. I have 2 stands, but no 3" M10 x 1.5 bolts. Ain't that a B?

That would be 75mm m10x1.5 bolts :spin1:

I have gotten an engine home only to find that I don't have long enough bolts to put it on a stand so. Many. Times. :bs:

We have rust here but on the flip side I can get lm7s for 180 each, or like 270-300 each with everything on them still, all day long, and there are always 6 viable donors at the yard. Kinda nice, wish I needed one.

Same thing in Florida. All models were a dime dozen.

For whatever reason, in the midwest, everyone thinks their LS motor is worth its weight in gold. The asking prices I see out here are retarded, and yet people buy them. It's nuts. This guy happened to be right down the street from me and he delivered it. So for a buck fiddy, I think I did okay considering the market.

Kastein - Can I commission you to make a wiring harness for me? :D

I prefer doing harnesses on the recipient chassis for a perfect fit, otherwise I'd probably do it for you for a case of beer. Maybe if I end up out in CO when you're dropping it in.

Well that would be swell.

Why? This would be about my 10th retro swap of this motor into different vehicles. It's incredibly easy with the Renix models, just time consuming with the wiring harness. But once you clean the harness up, it's just 4 wires - 12v ign, battery constant, ground, starter. Everything else can be purchased from Novak.

And since I'm not pioneering this swap, I live by this motto:

"Smart people learn from their mistakes. Wise people learn from the mistakes of others."

Thankfully there are some awesome people on here that are willing to share their knowledge. I can't wait to get started. :D

Lol..... you are going to learn alright! I wish you the best of luck and a smooth swap!

I'm tired of having to tighten u-bolts, so beefy:

The old battery holder sucks, so:

Getting rid of the pink:

I REALLY wish that somebody made that battery mount in drivers side as well as passenger side.

If I had the plasma table like I want/plan too...battery replacement tray's for the XJ were a product I was going to start MFG'ing. Had the plans drawn out for either side as I was cutting my XJ apart.

Surprised no one has jumped on that yet....like they did on my bolt in shackle relocation brackets :D

Jeep makes (made) one. For the export diesel and RHD models. I don't know if it is still available or not.

Doesn't TNT make a battery box relocation kit for the XJ's or am i wrong?

Swapped out the wife's radiator 2 months back or so now after all that cold weather Mine is leaking bad. I ordered a new one and got it the other day. They sent me one for a 4 banger not a 4.0L one as I selected. Called CS and they said that's all they had.....ok so call me and tell me that don't ship me one that doesn't work? so now I have to send it back wait for them to put the money back in my account and hunt down a new one. LOVE LIFE RIGHT NOW!!!!
