What are you doing to your rig - the continuing saga

Drove the red XJ to NYC and back (another 360 miles on the ticker...) with the blown head gasket.

Can't kill a 4.0. Once I have the blue MJ fixed up enough to pass inspection I'll take the red one out of commission for a motor swap

OK, the Antirock is in, thanks to my Kid coming home from University for the Holidays. Will let you know how it goes. If I don't care for the on road handling (Yah, I know. Lifted Jeeps so don't handle, stop being so picky) I can always put the rear bar back in. Maybe repurpose my JKS quick-discos...

The YJ is leafsprung 4 life bitches!!!!! I get 12" of travel (limited by shocks) out of my leafspring setup, and it rides nice too. Easy to maintain, reliable, and cheap. Good enough for me as I'm not competing or sponsored.

Fixing the @#$%^ steering column. Bolts are loose in the tilt column. Made the mistake of stopping at O'reilly to get the lock plate puller after I couldn't find one at Harbor Freight. For what I paid for it there, I could have got the lock plate puller, pivot pin puller, and torx socket from Amazon. Not to mention standing around waiting to pay for the damn thing. :flame::flamemad::gonnablow

FWIW, I only paid $15 through matco for the lock plate tool. :P

Well the jeep decided it would be a great day to stop xmas shopping and lay in a snowy parking lot and replace the crank position sensor. So much fun.

Yeah, don't ya just love it when your XJ decides when and where it wants to spend quality time with you? They can be a jealous bitch sometimes.........

got my 1ton steering kit installed today! building the track bar next weekend, installing chromo shafts sometime this week. then need to find some s10 leaves to rebuild my bastard pack, and install my ruffstuff traction bar kit. then it will be wheelable again!!!

Jeep moved today in first time since Thursday. felt nice. then felt bad. then I fixed my clunk by tightening my jam nuts on my upper control arms, who woulda thought... anyways, anyone know if a enging mount should look like dripping black ice cream???

Yes, if it is a stock mount, on the passenger side, and oil leaks everywhere, this is normal.

Or a driver's side mount..... too close to a bent/smashed super hot exhaust header......
