I cut a bunch and have 3" of extended bump stops, and I still cut my tire this weekend!!
Picked up a YJ steering box for cheap on the way back from Moab. It's already drilled and tapped for hydro assist.
Next year's project, perhaps...

You just haven't cut enough, my 32's don't even come close to the fenders

My 33s scrub on the fender a little, but they've already pushed it back to the perfect distance. I'll probably actually put my new suspension and frame together and flex it out so I can trim the new 97+ fenders to fit properly instead of getting mangled, but I didn't care enough to trim the dented, rusty 96- fenders to fit, just cut them back enough that they wouldn't harm the tires and let the tires do the rest.

Thanks for the ideas. I have 3" of bump stop in now and it looks like I need another 1" or 1.5" to be safe...

Picked up a 29-spline 8.25 tonight for super cheap. Other than missing all of the brakes and the shock mounts, completely intact. Now to decide whether to use this as a base to build off of or just as an assembly of spares.

Trimmed the fenders. In the rear I just cut about 1/2" of the seam off because that's all it really needed, and took off more of the lower corners. Since I had some black spray paint for plastic, I decided to paint the flares. Now I have a theme, black and blue and a little gray. Old and bruised with a bit of gray hair, just like me.
