Instead of stuffing more stuff under the hood, stack it on top of the hood: A low profile heat exchanger, with some pusher fans and a louvered cover...another Franken Hood.
perhaps i described it wrong. loud boom out teh tail pipe. already destroyed 2 mufflers with this problem. How are your ignition parts? plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil?
backfires into the intake are usually lean condition caused... lack of fuel from a failing pump or plugged filter, plugged injector...
hmmmmwell loud booms out the tailpipe is caused from raw fuel in the exhaust.
check your tune up.
I have to thank Digger for his posts on overheating. I drive the 90 so infrequently I don't think about it much, and on the highway and in town it holds temps fine. But when I had to yank Zac off of the brink of disaster, it did start to overheat while idling for some time with the auxiliary fan off. So I've been meaning to check to coolant level for some time(open system with an aluminum overflow bottle, have to take off the radiator cap) and today in the midst of reading those posts, I finally rememberred. It was low, and I realized I had the overflow bottle configured wrong and fixed it. Thanks.
