i am looking into many axle up grade options, one of which is building on a friends D60 center section. a 20ft stick of 3in OD DOM 1/2in wall thick is $530-$550 or so. i only need about 4 or 5 ft so is anyone else interested in buying the other 15ft? looks like it's about $30 a foot, i can cut it to length as well.

i am not 100% sure of the DOM wall or OD thickness yet just getting a rough idea of interest in the left overs. i ask because this isn't a stocking item from our metal place and can only be ordered in 20ft sticks.

60's use 3.125" OD x .5" wall DOM.

that's what i'm saying, i am not 100% sure on exactly what i plan to get. i may end up going full retard with a RockJock 60 housing or..... just re-build the D44 i already have.

i'd like to know how fast or easily i can sell the left over DOM. also, thank you for that info, helped me out some.

I think you'd be better off buying another cheap axle to steal the tubing from to use. Find a dually rear axle that's blown up or something and use that to cut up and build a bastard axle.

RockJock44 front and grab the dana60-2 in the nacforsale section, Tha's a decent combo..

that Dana60 is in MD and i don't have the time to drive there.

i was looking on Curries site but don't see the RJ44?

I believe they have one I'm not 100% but as far as that 60 goes.. that's not the onlyone just search.. I'd hate to see you blow a shitton of cash and then want to sell the rig and findout you can't get shit for a built cherokee.

hahah oh ya i know that. if this thing ever goes it will be in pieces.

How about a local axle building shop to get just the length of tubing you need, assuming there is such a place near you.

This got the gears turning in my head... I have no need for DOM this large but RuffStuff does half a dozen different fabricated housings already, so they are purchasing and stocking some sort of heavy wall ~3" OD DOM. They sell DOM on their site. I wonder if they'd be willing to put it in their catalog for sale? http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/misc...e-now-available-ruffstuff-8.html#post16938914

edit: it looks like they are using 3.5x0.375 DOM for everything the list tube dimensions for. Same tube OD as a D70, D60-1SU, and I believe the Sterling 10.25.

as cheap as 60's are n these parts o dont see the point of building one from scratch

Dan posted up in that Pirate thread, they can sell 3.5x0.375 but would need some solid interest to get anything else in stock.

I was at D&D Engineering in Southbridge today looking for other random size DOM and happened to see some stuff I think you can use.

They have:
3.5" x 0.75" - around 46" iirc (d70, sterling 10.25, and d60-1SU use this size iirc)
3.25" x 0.5" - around 53" iirc (8.8s, other stuff)
3" x 0.375" - around 33" iirc (what you were looking for, except somewhat thinner wall)

And that was just the sticks I actually measured. There was more in the stack, probably at least another half stick of each but I only checked the first ones I saw. Asked for a quote, around $2/lb on DOM.
