Warn Black Diamond shocks???

I received some front shocks, and a stabilizer, from a friend who never put them on his Jeep. They are made/marketed by Warn as a Black Diamond.

The question I have is: Do they still make them? I would like to find matching rears, but could not find any shocks at www.warn.com.

Also they were for a 1988 XJ, I assume they will fit my 94 XJ. If not, let me know.

Warn sold their suspension division a cuople years ago. They are located in the mid west somewhere now. As far as thier shocks go, they were probably made by a bigger company like monroe and rebadge with the black diamond logos.

I figured they were from a bigger company like Gabriel, Monroe etc..

Thanks

I have to assume the Black diamond shocks are longer than stock as they would have been made to go with the Black Diamond lift, is your XJ lifted as much as your buddy's is..... otherwise they'll be too long if you're at stock height or too short if you're lifted higher.

Good point.

The Monroe web site has the entire catalog on-line. If you look up the part numbers for any series of shocks to fit the XJ, you can then go to the back of the catalog and look up the compressed and extended lengths. Use those to compare agsinst the Black Diamond shocks, based on how much your XJ is lifted over stock.

I replaced them yesterday, they were actually 1-2 inches shorter fully extended. It is a stock height XJ.

I am planning on towing two go karts, and some tools, in an 8x12 enclosed trailer. And sometimes two Harley Davidson's, which would be the most I will tow with it. So 3000lbs will be the absolute max I will be towing.

I was thinking about some gas charged shocks for the rear. Like a KYB, they are very stiff and would help with towing. Any suggestions for the rear?

Thanks

I tried KYBs on the '88 XJ many years ago. HATED them. They were much too stiff and harsh, and I took them off after about a month and replaced them with good old Monroes. Don't recall which series -- I thought they were Gas Magnums but now I'm not sure of that.

The Monroe Reflex shocks were not available back then. That's what I would go with today.

Thanks Eagle, I will check them out. I know the KYB's are very stiff, I have even seen them raise the ride height of a car, there not suppose to do that!

Thanks again
