Auto.... mine took a shit. When I cycle the ignition the aux fan spins up and I get a no bus......

Unfortunately, much of the '97's electronics are exclusive to that model year.

ECU
TCU
Gauge cluster
TPS
Transmission (reluctor is exclusive, but reluctors can be swapped out)
Ignition switch in the column
Pick up coil in distributor
Ignition coil

Not that anyone really care but the beast is up and running again.... finally! After buying a used ECM and having the same problem I went through everything yet again and this time I found a fuse that had blown that I somehow missed when I checked everything the first few times.......

Those are "expensive" fuses. I've bought a couple of those in my time with these damn XJ's.....
