Wanted: Packing foam.

What I'm looking for is plastic, not styrofoam - something that will stand up to moisture.

The stuff I'm thinking of I've seen in the packaging when you return a satelite receiver in a box - it's dark gray/black, has some give but firm and generally a few inches thick.

I'd like to find a couple pieces about 18" square or larger, and 4-6" thick. A solid piece would be great but will consider anything as I could glue parts together.

I'm looking to make a thick gasket of sorts between the unibody and front fender of the '97 to seal off the gap and make seal between the cold air intake and the vent on the outside of the fender.

Lemme know if you have or can source that kinda stuff!

not sure about the black/grey stuff, but what may work (may not, as im not sure what you are doing) is getting a plastic bag, form it to what you want to seal, then fill it with expanding foam. sort of what you see in larger electronic items (alot of places use foam in pink plastic bags)

Yeah, too tricky to work with and that foam gets real solid. I need it to be more flexible and having it in a thicker piece would allow me to use an electric knife to cut/form it.

I kinda need it to end up being about the size of a shoe box so I can cut out the middle 3"x10". The 2-4" left around (like a thick picture frame) would seal between the inside of the fender and the outside of the unibody....... if that makes sense.

That weatherstrip product that you use between a truck bed and a topper would be perfect........ if they only made it 3-4" thick.........

Ill have to find what its called but I have something that's in the tires of my rc crawler I believe its the stuff your looking for but only problem is it melts unless you use the right type of glue and it is not very wide but they may have a wide selection at say homo depo or ace
