I need a good axle disconnect for my 86. Broken fork is ok as long as vacuum diaphragm works!

I have all the parts from a axle disconnect. I do not have any idea if the vacuum diaphragm works tho...is there a way to test them? I have not messed with them much.

mac 'two piece' gyvr

why do you not just convert it to one piece shafts?

It would be easier to repair the disco than pulling the gear to install the proper passengers side axle seal. The truck doesn't see any wheeling. Just emergency traction duties. So a swap to a one peice is a last resort.

I will dig the one I have out tonight and take a pic and see if I can figure out if its good or not.

I also have a two piece shaft as well.

just shim the mode fork over with some washers and call it good forever.

easy if you have a mityvac. Apply vacuum and see if the fork moves, then listen for hissing.

This is plan b. Problem is the front pumpkin is noisey when engaged, I'd rather just engage when needed than listen to it all the time.

I just found my spare disco diaphram! Thanks Mac, if this one doesn't work, I'll pm you about the one you got.

I have an whole dana 30 with the disco setup, whole issue with it is a control arm bracket and track bar bracket is boogered up. Let me know if you're interested, I will sell the whole thing to ya, or parts off of it.

My diaphragm worked out so thanks guys for all the suggestions and help.
