I'd like to organize a trail run up at Walker Valley next month. If you've never been to Walker, you need to check it out! Or if you're a veteran, come and enjoy the sloppy goodness in February. Ryan has offered his services as guide for the non-locals, plus there's a bunch of us that know our way around up there, if we need to split into groups. There are enough trails to keep everyone busy for a day, and some challenging obstacles like the Expressway "rock face".
Here's some links to past Walker runs if you want to see the terrain. Walker offers all levels of terrain in the winter.

Also, the chapter BOD is considering a proposal for a NWchapter trail adoption at Walker. This will be a great opportunity to see what we'll be working on.

Walker Valley is located about an hour north of Seattle, and a few minutes east of Mt.Vernon. Those traveling on I-5 can meet up at the (GI)Joes parking lot in Mt.Vernon. It's right next to the college way exit. You can't miss it when you get off the freeway. If everybody shows up at Joes by 9:00, we should be able to get to the trail head, just east of Mt.Vernon, at around 9:30-45. Those traveling from the Eastern areas can use highway 9 and get to the trail head/parking lot that way. We can hammer out more details as the date gets closer. PUT IT ON YOUR CALENDARS!

wish I could go but all I got is a stocker right now

Not that it is recommended, BUT I took my stocker through Walker Valley on most trails (except Expressway) & made it through. Did do some minor metal massaging BUT....

I will be there for sure!!

um i dont think a stocker would go very far this time of year!! its pretty goey up there right now.

You are most likely right, Although when Metal Thrasher & I were up there last, it was VERY soupy & I DID have to lay in the mud & remove my cabbaged exhaust system.

Directions and Drive Time estimates please...Jason wants to go to Washington.

let me check about that weekend, you might be able to stay friday night at my place so you don't have to drive the entire way up Saturday morning.

Portland to Seattle 2.5-3hr depending on traffic.
Seattle - Walker 1hr?

*EDIT* checked the map 1hr (59min) from my house to the meeting point

And because Jason has no google-fu skills, here's a map from Portland to Joe's in Mt. Vernon, then the short trip from there to the trail head.

I actually didn't really look, cause I didn't notice you had given a description of the location in the first post.

I'm designing a new XJ rear bumper today, so I was very distracted...

i like this map a little better, it prints out on 2 pages but its way bigger and makes it easier to read, its the exact same map just setup to print out different. i just overlap the pages and tape em together.
