Walker Valley Run, Sat. December 6th

I might make my way up there. Depends on some other things that weekend. I know the trails, but I'm not sure my rig would by up to the task..?

That would be sweet to have you join us Matt. But damn...I think you may be on to something. You may need to put on those 38x19.5 Thornbirds to be able to handle the terrain.:rof:

Wait till you see what his next set of tires are gonna be, seriously.;)

Has anyone here ever bought or ran Thornturds? Just a waste of petroleum. Interco needs to pile them all up and start a big tire fire, throw the molds on the top.

I smell a story, please tell. :D

P.S. Should they add the Trxus STSs to the fire? I dont see how that tread pattern is effective...maybe in sand.

I don't have any personal experience with Thornturds, but have wheeled with a guy who was running them. They packed full of mud quickly, and were useless on your garden-variety muddy NW trail. Unless you stuff them down in a rut or against a sidehill berm, they don't pull for shit. They also are stiff as Hell, my buddy Earl couldn't get them to belly-out until they were in low single digits, and even then they still had sucky traction.

It seems like this tire was created for the I-5 4 wheel drive crowd who wanted something that looked "tough" but was quiet on the road. AFAIK, they're relatively quiet on the road, but the trail traction sucks so bad, what's the point? They're a bias ply as well, so who in their right mind would choose these over a basic mudder radial, which would also offer better trail traction to go with a decent road ride?

I suppose you have to go with the era in which they were created. Mudder radials were relatively new on the scene, and Interco wanted to offer a tire for the mall-crawler crowd. As that is no longer the case, time to phase out these wastes of rubber.

Tentatively in at this point...I just checked my brakes and my rear pass. brake has nearly completely exploded. There's loose parts and springs all inside the drum...I need to fix this first.

Motor Mounts replaced, pretty easy less than 45 min both sides. Retorqed everything again, loaded up the heep with items, leaving the island after I pick up my buddy @ about 745 takes about an hour to get there.

Meet whoever is IN at the front enterance.

Will you be taking the Mukilteo ferry out or the bridge? I'm close to the ferry if you want to convoy with Bruno and I (assuming I get my brakes done tonight of course).

out, axle and tires are going in tomorrow.

I'm out...Lyle can't get me the brake part till late...I wont have time to finish them and check all my other crap. Bummer...but Mac, if you still want to convoy shoot Lyle (Bruno"tm") a PM, he might be interesting.
