Volunteers Needed for Cleanup

I appreciate everyone volunteering. Please keep in mind this is for the potluck too. No one usually helps with cleanup, except who's campsite we invade. I am hoping everyone understood I meant BOTH. Obviously the same people do not need to help both nights, unless they want to.

Sue, do you think organized times would help? If people know the start and end time for the pot luck? This way volunteers would know that to do their part they have to be at the clean up at say 9pm? I feel like this would work with all aspects of the event. Drivers meeting starts at........ I don't care how many events you have done, be there. Pot luck clean up is at....... Dinner starts at........ Raffle starts at...... Be in the quarry for the pic and lunch...... We could put this schedule on something that comes in the registration package. Honestly it would also help the newbs to take advantage of the full experience.

I just took a half day Thursday and I took Friday off. I'll help with as many aspects as possible.. I will be busy from 10pm-2am all evenings and unable to volunteer :flame:

This brings up a something that I have noticed over the years (maybe 9). People do take off rather quickly after the raffle, but I have to point out that the raffle lasts a LONG time. Even some of the people who participate are anxious to get out of there. All of my points are based off the fact that people are really ready to roll.

I have noticed that we are usually setting up food while people are taking their seats. It would be really nice if the food prep was finished before the proposed start time. This could shave 15 minutes very easily.

The raffle always has a delay before getting kicked off. Could we pre-sell tickets somehow? It may help speed up the process for the high rollers that buy 50+. Could the people running the raffle be served first in an effort to prevent delay? Maybe the raffle could begin just as soon as we don't have people in the food line?

Honestly I feel all the rush is due to how long it takes for the entire process to take place. I really enjoy the entire experience but I think the new folks get bored in the last 45 minutes.

Sorry for the long winded post about volunteers and people rushing out of the VFW.

With all this being said... I know this is all based off volunteers. I don't want to make it difficult to buy tickets. I don't want people to feel rushed.

The planning committee is working on making changes to help with getting the raffle tickets distributed better and faster.

I'll make sure that we discuss trying to time raffle and eating better.

I too will be busy from 10pm to about 3am or maybe 4am if the fire is warm

Dawn and I and Tater and Rich will stick around.

I will stick around and help too.

Although, here's and alternate idea...

If, at the end before we hit the ground running, we all just policed our area around us, dumped all the trash that we make (ticket stubs, plates cups, etc) then stack our own chairs that should take care of the bulk of the problem. Then maybe it won't be such a big job for the folks that stick around and finish up.

...just a couple of thoughts rolling around like marbles in my head. :)

All of you have volunteered, please remember cleanup is for the Potluck on Friday night, not just the dinner on saturday. Thank you to all who have stepped up, or will.
