DW on pothole at 45 mph. I got my buddy to video out the passenger side. The only problem was the camera shaking too much. You can hear the tires squeeling. I will post it tonight if i can figure it out. First I have to download to computer. Maybe I will be able to see tire movement in slow motion. Ha my buddy was freakin out. lol !!!! Can someone help with how to post mpeg file?

how do you post a mpeg or any other video file.easy find a place to host it first.then just wrap it in url brackets like a link

set the toe-in at about 1/8 to 1/4" that helped mine tremendously or just leave it so you can film more DW action scenes...

This is cool , anyone want to host it tonight? Two files 2.4 and 3.4 Meg. One in slow mo. PM me if u can host tonight.

REAL death wobble is when your corners start lifting completely off and start chirping the tires :laugh3: jk
Looks like a pretty nasty case for stock tires. Any suspension mods?

Those are 31 X 10.50 tires on a 4.5 lift. The video just doesnt do it justice. The tires were bouncing and chirping big time. Luckily my passenger went to the head before this. On the slow mo you can kinda see the tires flopping around. To me it looks like a steering linkage problem.

Then again, if the steering linkage was the culprit, wouldn't the steering wheel move around a bit? The wheel was not moving (i know cus i head a death grip on it). Newly installed high grade bolt on the axle side of trackbar fits tight in the mount. The trackbar looks tight, even when moving the steering wheel and looking for any play. Toe in at 1/16". I think my next step will be to replace the LCA bushings, Before I put in a bulletproof or similar otk steering linkage.

NO, it wouldn't. THAT is the problem that actually points to stering linkage I think. If you get wobble like that and DON'T feel it in the steering wheel... something is loose somewhere!!

Well it must be something that only fails when under stress. The tre's have been replaced and seem pretty snug. Maybe I can stuff the camera underneath the front end, haha. hmmmmmmmm.......

check the trackbar by standing at the drivers door and watch to front tire, turn the wheel slowly an watch for tire movement or body movement first...if the body moves the track bar is toast.

if the wheels are shaking all over the place and your steering wheel isnt.......something isnt connected or tight. get under your jeep with some wrenches and tighten every bolt and nut under there as tight as you can humanly get them. most likely its the short arms on 4.5" of lift. are you running stock control arms? a buddy of mine had the same exact problem when he ran 4.5" of lift on the factory arms. he fixed it by getting a set of rustys lowers for a 4.5" lift.

Have you searched and read everything about DW on this forum??

Have you balanced you wheels and tires?
Have you rotated them?
Is the trackbar tight at both ends with NO movement?
Are the TRE's tight?
What is the Castor angle?
Is there any movement in the ball joints or hubs?

This is where you should start. Only then will you begin to get an idea of where to spend your money.

I respectfully disagree. DW is felt EVERYWHERE when it happens. :D

I am running Rustys uca and lca's. Rustys adjustable track bar, Rustys 4.5" lift. Rancho RS9000 shocks. I have tightened everything. The track bar was a little loose, it was tightened and made an improvent in handling but still dw. The steering feels tight except when hitting a good size bump or pothole, then dw. I am thinking of going bulletproof trackbar with heim ends, anyone have experience with this? Also otk bulletproof system.

Caster is 6.5 degrees, tre's are tight, ball joints tight, bearings tight. Track bar tight. I haven't messed with the tires lately, but I only get dw after hitting a big bump or hole. If tires werent balanced wouldnt i get wobble without pothole inducement? Oh, and yes , I have been investigating dw for quite some time I am just getting around to fixing it. Had to get rid of ball and chain.

well i know what your problem is. i have the exact same lift as you except i put a BB on top of it. i also did drop brackets on my control arms. i was getting bad deathwobble and i finally linked it to my rustys trackbar. the ball joint at the top of it was worn out after 30 miles because. i ordered the HD bracket and bushing from rustys that does away with the ball joint and uses a regular steel sleeve and rubber bushing. no more DW and my steering is tighter. less wandering. etc.

yes. i also got alot of DW from my unbalanced 36" bias ply swampers i was running. i didnt need a pothole to get DW from those. 45 mph is all they needed.

Rustys adjustable track bar,

That right there was what caused my DW. TRE wore out in about a week...and the axle end bushing insert ovalled out, which threw it into a severe DW condition. Whatever that metal insert was made out of, it sure was soft. Bolts were just loose enough to slide through when it was brand new, but still egged out. Meh!

Bought an RE HD setup with the bracket and haven't had a hint of it since.

Had fun with a cutting torch and that other POS trackbar. :D
