i have a 88 xj and there are vacuum lines everywhere that look to be fixed with tape. im trying to replace or delete them. that is if there are some that can be deleted. can anyone help me out on what lines i need to keep and what ones can go.

What motor. I believe egr system can be deleted. I know you need the map hooked up. My two cents.

It is a federal offense to delete the EGR system, and the computer does count on it working to properly function.

there is vacuum going to the cruise control that could be deleted, but off of the top of my head thats about it.

Replace them.

Renix Vacuum Harnesses

The vacuum harness that attaches to the front of the valve cover and includes the grommet/fitting, and is called the front harness, is Napa part number BK 715-1367

The vacuum harness that is closest to the air cleaner, EGR etc, and is called the rear harness, is Napa part number BK-715-1366.

The tube from the rear of the valve cover to the intake manifold is part number 715-1365.

that has to be the most useful post I have read in 2013..

*bookmarking part numbers*

And the rear grommet is a Dorman 42088. How's that for icing on the cake?
can anyone find a napa part number for this grommet? nothing comes at napa for the 42088?

thanks cal. I found them on rockatuo for 2$, i was just trying to find one locally today. I guess I can wait a few days.

Ya I already replaced both halves of the vacuum harness years ago. I just never did the PCV. I have some major oil leaks all over so just replacing it all one by one. Valve cover gasket, RMS, oil pan gasket, oil filter housing Orings, dizzy gasket, front crankshaft seal, and the PCV stuff . I figure Its needed after this many years. I already did the PCV hack up the tubes under the valve cover mod years ago.

When replacing a vacuum harness tree... blow thru them to make sure they arent plugged.

I installed a set on my renix... roughly 3-4 years ago, and one of the hoses was stuck into a 90' elbow too deep... plugging the line. I cut the end at 45 degrees so it couldnt happen again.

For the rear line/grommet. Carquest/ "Dorman:Help!" number is 46005
Grommet only: 42088

Front harness : 46003

46003 is dorman front
46004 is dorman rear
Amazon has a good price.
46005 the "crank case vent"
