Upper or Lower or Both

Looking at lifting my 90 XJ a little further. Thinking about going about 4.5 to 5". I currently have 3" with stock control arms. The question is do I get LCA or UCA or both? Am I ok with just the LCA? Looks like I'm getting 4.5 RE sprinigs for the front and hope to get 4.5 to 5" out of s10 or dakota springs with an SYE and cherokee front DS. Also heard something about needing to shorten the front DS that stays in the front. Probably need new shocks and lines too. Trackbar bracket or adjustable? Trying to keep it relatively inexpensive. Thanks for the help!!

get an adjustable trackbar, and get a HD one similar to RE's or Rustys. you can get away with just getting new lower arms but at 4.5" it would be good to get new uppers too. one, because the stock ones just arent that strong and also if you get adjustable ones(which you should)it will help you tune in your pinion angle. your front driveshaft should be fine.

Go with adjustable lowers AND uppers. Your pinion angles would be mondo shotty with just lowers at around 4.5", and the new arms will make a noticeable difference in ride.

is the pinion angle a really big factor at 4.5"

It was on mine....so much that it caused horrable vibrations and even some binding in my front DS. Adjustables are worth their weight in gold on any lift over 3" IMO.

got some LCA on ebay but unfortunately they are Pro Comp Fixed LCA. Going to start looking for some UCAs, I guess the question is will Adj. UCA still help with the pinion angle even though the LCA are fixed?

yes.
