Unimog 406 axles

I have looked through here for info, but I am only seeming to find info on the 404's what is the differences between the 404 and 406 axles, are these desirable at all?

406s have straight cut portal gears, axle tubes that bolt into the center section, different gear ratios available, and more weight than 404s. Lot's of info on Pirate4x4 in the General and Mercedes forums.

Basically they are rated at around 4 tons, while 404's are closer to 1.5/2.
