UHAUL auto transport

Well I made it out here in one piece. I got into Woodland Park about 10 p.m. The town has quite a few of those really wide speed bumps. There is one at the bottom of the hill that leads up to the house. So...I'm maneuvering my rig and trailer over the bump and then gonna turn right up the hill. Then theres a gut wrenching sound and I'm hung up.

The trailer high centered on the bump about 2 feet back from the hitch. Of course...my dumb butt wanted to save 60 bones at UHAUL by not getting the insurance on the trailer (what can go wrong with a trailer?). The wiring was destroyed and the jack was....well....jacked. I'm tired and not thinking clearly. Finally got some of my wits and decided to unload the Jeep and hopefully bring the trailer up. Took 40 minutes for my DA to get the Jeep unloaded. No I don't want to get into it. After I had the thing all jack knifed, somehow I got it free.

Called the G/F and told her (mistake # infinity). Wished I hadn't. Then dug around in the truck and found a bottle of Tequila. Then I had a blurry vision. Long story short, I was able to splice the wires in the morning and used heat shrink tube to make it look all good before returning it. Never a dull moment.

That truck had about a 50 gallon tank. First fill up was 120 bones! If you guys are out this way and need a futon/air mattress or whatever...lemme know.

i dont really know except that it cost me a sh*t load and i was able to refund part of the money due to problems with the orginal quote

good to know you got there safe. i got a story about messing up rented stuff.

me and my bud rented a car (in my name) to take a trip to arkansas last year to see AR vs. GA college football game. we hadn't gotten two miles from the rental place stopped at a wendy's to get some grub. and wouldn't you know some lady backed right into the driver door. anyway we got back after that weekend the car was due back by 9 am so i get to work at 7 pull the door panel and wallah! a huge dent was transformed into a tiny dent. the lady didn't notice it on the walk around. so i got away with one.

:dunno:

Had my fun with UH a few days ago.

Rented a 14 footer to go from Flag to Tucson. My Dad and I get there in the morn and try to get our truck. Well, they didnt have our reservation, and were even less pleased after we showed them the online confirmation.

We got a 17 footer for the same price, and it had to have been the crapiest Ford ever...barely ran, and that's bad for the trip between Flag and PHX.

Told my wife:
" You know how the parts monkeys at Autism Zone are kinda retarded?"

She says "Did U-Haul get their rejects?"

"Yee-up"

I love her.

I didn't check the trailer lights when I picked up the thing. When I re-did the wiring, nothing on the right side worked. I lucked out...the place I returned it to had a kid that was about 14 check it in. I think he spent most of the time looking to see if there was anything like used cigarrette butts or stuff like that in the cabin.

That's probably part of the reason I want to get a deuce or a five-ton - next time I move, I don't feel like borrowing or renting ANY-DAMN-THING.

Uhaul is a constant source of headaches (you're mad if you think I'm going to let you touch my wiring! No problem - I'll go buy my own tools! I already know what colour the wires are...) (I need a 2" drop ball mount. You have one on the wall. Gimme that one. No, I will not drive an off-level trailer across the country on I-10 - do I look stupid?) (No, I'm not going to take this trailer - unless you put a plug on it. I don't "afro-engineer" anything electrical - and, as of right now, neither do you.) (I see new tyres there. I see old tyres here. I can see the top of Abe's head. Am I the only one that sees a problem here? Change these tyres NOW!)

Nope - get my own big truck, build my own flatbed and my own box trailer, and call it good. I just don't want to deal with it anymore (and I like the idea of driving to school in my deuce or five-ton anyhow - even if it does take up two spaces. At least it's an HONEST two spaces - not like that damn fool in the CRV that I want to pull like a rotten tooth...)

Fergie - sounds like you got yerself a keeper! I decided to keep mine when we reached a working arrangement that allowed her to run parts for me - I write down exactly what I want. If it comes back wrong, it's MY fault! Works pretty good...

It's not that she's not mechanically inclined - I just always want somthing strange. She's saved me so much time in diagnosis by spotting problems that I can't help but love her!
