Just wondering.....what are Mexico's gun laws? Can a Mexican Citizen carry a concealed weapon for personal defense?
Already, the city is one of the world's deadliest places. More than 2,600 people were killed last year, and another 500 so far this year — all in a city of 1.3 million.

Brady Bunch said:but gun control curbs violence
Tell our citizens not to go there for any reason and let them fight it out.

:cheers:Then post our national guard on the border with the orders to shoot anyone they see crossing the fence.

If (hypothetically speaking) we were able to shut down the border, the country of Mexico would implode.
There would be much, much less money remitted to families down there from families up here (let's not forget that there are people here legally).
The populace down there would turn on their gov't and revolt.
The porous border is a safety valve that prevents that.
I don't understand all the dynamics behind it, but I'm sure the U.S. government realizes this.... Thus the lack of any "real" border enforcement.
Mexican citizens are allowed to own a firearm, but it cannot be anything in a "militray" caliber. Which pretty much eliminates everything, because most calibers have seen service in someone's military at sometime.
so anything more than a .22 is not for public consumption down there, and even then, I think you have to have a permit, which the average guy is not likely to get.
That is the way I remember it, back before I no longer gave a s*it about Mexico.
I once read, probably in Guns & Ammo mag, that the .38 Super cartridge was specifically designed to circumvent the Mexican law.

When the government has to break the law to get around its own bureaucracy, you know something is badly wrong.Even government agencies, frustrated with the Defense Ministry, sometimes smuggle in their own weapons from the U.S.
Yea, I remember that one too, however they don't use AK's as issue mexican calibers so I often wonder why the cartels don't just by AK and such on the open market and bring them in, would be much cheaper than buying the AR's at US stores, paying top dollar and commission then smuggling them south. The could just add cases of AK's to their drug shipments and pay a heck of a lot less for full auto weapons.
Why Should they do that?
It is far cheaper for the cartels to just purchase guns from the Mexican Army, Like they have been doing all along!
