I searched but didn’t find what I was looking for. I probably used the wrong keywords. Anyway, I have a 01 Cherokee with the 0331 head (non-TUPY). I have a 99 XJ ECU to swap in to eliminate the 2 pre-cats and O2 sensors. I was wondering if using the TUPY head from a 06 TJ with the factory 01 XJ manifolds and a federal emissions down pipe would work, as well as plugging the extra O2 sensor holes. Or would it be better to use the 0630 head with a 99 manifold or header? The Jeep only has 78k miles on it but I want to get out in front of any issues down the road while parts are relatively still easy to come by.
I live in NC and the Jeep is over 20 years old so it’s only subject to a safety inspection. I’ve had vehicles without converters in the past and haven’t had any issues passing. I figured that the exhaust is good enough for a 99 than it should be good enough for my 01. It’s not like it won’t have 1 converter still on it. Thanks in advance.
