A few of us headed out to TSF last weekend for a quick trip for some wheeling and camping. The plan was to get Scott's seven year project out of the garage and on to the trails for the first time.
Saturday before hitting the road, Scott was already bailing due to beadlock failure.
We contemplated pumping the brakes on the trip, but Nick and I wanted to wheel so I grabbed some taps, and gave Scott a shopping list to fix the issue when we got out there.
Due to the nice weekend, TSF was packed, we eventually found camp, made repairs, and set off to hit the trails. History was made, Scott drove a trail in his own Jeep.
She's a big girl, but looks good, and worked very well.
Cedar Tree off to FB5.
Nick bringing up the tail.
Second section was a little slick, but all-in-all wasn't too bad, we cruised.
Nick spotted, while Scott and I ran the rock garden all the way through. Scott getting more and more confident his junk wasn't going to spontaneously fall apart.
Eventually we hit the third section, which was snowed in still. Second gear pinned in 3.8 seemed to work best trying to keep your momentum while also trying to keep the body off the trees. It was a blast.
Scott proceeded to bury his beast in the Crushers.
He hooked up to my Jeep, and only managed to winch mine backwards through the snow. I anchored to Nick, and Scott then just managed to stall out his 9.5 winch. She's a big gal. :roflmao:
Break time, it was a gorgeous day.
Snow was kind of deep.
We got the whale unbeached, and crossed Crushers off the list.
Continued on, and decided to break trail over Saddle Up where there were no tracks ahead of us.
Some may say it's crazy, but breaking trail through snow drifts on a hill side was just another challenge.
"uhh, guys is this a bad time to run outta gas?"
We left the Scott's junk tethered to a stump, piled in two rigs, broke trail the rest of the way over the top, and headed back to camp. A few hours later with some gas we got Scott's junk off the trail. If running out of gas was the worst thing to happen on a shake down run, I'd say things went okay.
The next morning Nick and I buzzed down to Mini Rubicon.
Good way to end the weekend.
