Ok so have searched on this and did find an easy solution for removing the TRE to pitman arm. Pickle fork is my friend.... But this will destroy the dust boot correct? Where can i get a replacement boot? Or is there a better way to remove this? I just ordered the RC 4.5 LA kit and will need to replace the pitman arm that is included in the kit is why i'm asking.

SWEET I just noticed my RED letters up there!!!

X2. Apply heat if necessary.

Also - if it doesn't, you aren't using a big enough hammer... I had to whack my TREs on the steering knuckles really hard with my carpenter's hammer, but it only took a couple lightish taps with my 5lb hand sledge.

Back the nut off just a few threads, place a sledge hammer or other heavy solid object under the pitman arm right next to the TRE, whack the nut with a large hammer from the top. That should dislodge the tre from the pitman arm without damaging the boot or the threads on the tre.

I haven't looked lately but would a tie rod end puller work by chance? :dunno: May not be big enough to get around the pitman arm but maybe? If I remember and it's still light out when i get home I will check my tie rod end puller to see if it would work.

All I've got is a pitman arm puller, I use it on tie rod ends too though it's tough to get the jaws around things sometimes.

Favorite trick - put the puller on, crank it down pretty tight, whack the wrench end of the press bolt with a heavy hammer, pops em out every time. Never tried it on a TRE at the pitman arm though, only on knuckles/tie rods.

Yeah i have a puller to but haven't check either. If not i'll try what is suggested above. Thanks for the input.
