Transfer case gear positions

Don't think that's my issue, but...?

I adjusted the rear drums before I left, adjusted them out, then backed them off and I was able to pull the drum off. Did the reverse, stop procedure and rear brakes were working fine.

No pulling to either side, good stopping power etc. I also replaced the rear brake hose, flushed and bled all the brakes and height sensing valve before the trip. Since I was, in fact, concerned with the brakes maybe being too tight in the rear I also checked them a couple times to see if they were hot, they were not

I have a CAD axle...but it's locked over.

I'm 99% sure that it was not in 4X4. I drove 90 miles on pavement. It was sluggish "as if" it was in 4x. I just replaced the cat and downpipe before the trip.

The Jeep drove great the 90 miles to the campsite, we wheeled, came down the hill fine, when I hit the highway it felt like I was towing a 10 foot log. Got hot on hills at 50-60 mph. I had the same weight in the back as when I went up except for ice, beer, food.

NOW...it seems to be fine. I've driven it up and down the hill all week. 40 mile round trip daily.

I'm lost :wow:

Couldn't have gone that far in 4x4, for sure.

If it was something suffering thermal breakdown it should still be presenting.

Fuel system contamination, maybe? Something that could have shook loose?

WHERE YOU DRAGGING A 10-FOOT LOG?

WHERE YOU DRAGGING A 10-FOOT LOG?

Umm...no!

OK the weird thing is that I had spent a couple weeks, after work, doing a lot of things to it. Brakes, cooling flush, , thermostat, oil, exhaust manifold,O2 sensor new cat. just to make sure it was up to snuff and when I was done with it all it was running better than it ever has.

So, the "busted something loose" theory IS a possibility. However, it's doing much better now (y'know, since I ditched the log) yet I haven't done a thing to it since except drive it. But I haven't driven it since last Monday...since it's been 100-105+ here, and I have no air, yet.
