let's see em! Show me what YOU do to keep your trails open. Anything trail cleanup related is welcome here. I'm looking for pics to include in promo materials to show people the good that NAXJA is up to out there so let's see what you've been up to! Bonus points if there are XJs in the shot ;)

MJs are better for trail cleanup :looney:

This is a small dirt road leading to my town that I used to drive every week when I was working in NYC. The amount of illegal dumping alongside it has always bothered me because I hate looking at piles of trash... been working on cleaning it up for a month or two now, every time I feel like it I go out and drag a truckload out of the woods.

First illegal dump site afterwards, looked like someone remodeled a bathroom from the plastic sheeting and chunks of old sinks and vanities that were here:

I wasn't able to get the whole pile at once, it was too old and sunk into the ground and I needed a shovel and the truck was getting full.

Right as I finished dragging most of the big stuff out of that pile, one of the abutting landowners showed up in his SUV. From his demeanor when he showed up I am pretty sure he's the one that is known for waving a shotgun around if you take a wrong turn (there are a few side spurs off this road - some private, some public, none posted, one of my friends ended up at the wrong end of his gun years ago before he knew which way to go) but he seemed a lot happier when he noticed I was putting things IN the truck, not taking them out.

Second illegal dump site, this is where I have been concentrating on in the past because it was the worst.

There were something like two dozen old tires piled here, took two or three trips to clean that up. I'm going to see if any of the local junkyards will take them for either free or cheap. There's only one left, unless there are more buried, which really wouldn't surprise me.

That large object is what's left of a couch. I think it's been sitting there for ten years or more, it's pretty decomposed.

There was a pile of old fans, random furniture, chunks of couches (three pieces of another red 3 person couch) and a few buckets of paint here. I couldn't fit the love seat this time around...

I'll be back.

There is probably still another two or three truckloads out there at minimum. One of the worst spots looked like there had been an underage drinking party or something there recently, there were probably 50 beer cans and a bunch of random takeout food containers, cigarette cartons, and other random junk strewn around that I don't remember seeing there just a week or two ago.

Stuff that I remember still being out there - a big pile of asphalt shingles (seemingly been there for years - discovered it grabbing pieces of the decomposed couch), a semi melted truck bed cap, a box spring, probably a hundred pounds of broken ceramic tile, one tire, a few garbage bags of unidentifiable refuse, a bazillion beer cans and wrappers and other junk, a love seat, a recliner, and a few things I couldn't quite identify.

I can probably get better pictures next time I go out there, this time it was nearly dark and I have only taken pics in the past so I can show the police that I am dragging things out of the woods, not into them, if anyone reports a truck full of junk in the area and I get pulled over.
