We had a great time yesterday! Didn't meet any NAXJA guys but that's ok. Along were me in Ol Red, my Daughter in her TJ, and two buds in their TJ and CJ's.

The trail was snow covered all the way up with about 8 - 12". We had a group of three in front of us doing a great job of breaking trail. How exactly they followed the trail I'm not sure, because when we passed them at the top we lost the trail several times! The last couple of hundred yards were very challenging indeed. Steep and slippery! Some of us took quite a few tries and the Daughter being open/open had to get tugged. The XJ being tailgunner had a great advantage and used momentum and screamed it's way up without stopping, lol.

After lunch at the top we continued west along the ridge. This proved to be an impossiblity! After traveling a mile or so (past the cattle gate and the overlook) we were basically lost! We obviously could follow our trail back out but we had no idea where the trail was. With everything snow covered it all looked the same. We ended up in a dead end of trees. Playing the smart card we decided to head back the way we came.

It was very slippery coming down too! We all made it without incident and had a great time. Here are some pics

Looks like fun. I have to get my daughter to the snow to get some practice. Speaking of the daughters jeep. Why didnt you upgrade her rig with some lockers or at least a limited slip in the rear when you put it back together?

Makes Sense!! Jorji's jeep is doing well other than an oil leak. It looks like the valve cover so we are doing that, RMS, and oil pan since those need to be done anyways. She is not thrilled about the RMS since she helped me do my jeep!! We need to do another snow run this year and let the girls lead!! lol

Old Emmigrant Rd., Iron Mountain Rd., Silver Lake Rd they are all the same road. It runs from Sly Park/Pollock Pines area down to Hwy 88/Silver Lake area.

The road is paved and very much basically a Highway in the summer but it is not plowed in the winter. It isn't closed, it's just not plowed. It makes a great snow run. Very wide and there's no way you can get lost. Due to the fact it is closed at the Hwy 88 junction you must turn around and come out the way you went in.

Got it. That was my first run with Naxja.. Everyone was calling it Emmigrant at the time though. That would be perfect. I will bring the sleds for the little ones too.

First snow run of the year looks like fun. Hope we get more soon.
