Tonight....WE WRENCH!!!!

Jeezus Frank....... Really? Ya can't even get a complete rebuild kit???? :banghead:

Ok, so to summarize.......
-Van goes bang, ya believe it's the trans.
-Go to junk yard and get replacement trans.
-Swap parts between transmissions in order to make one good one.
-Take old trans in for core deposit refund.
-Install trans only to discover its the grenaded rear axle.
-Get replacement rear axle installed.
-Drive van for 3 days....... replacement trans craps out.
-Wishing you still had original trans to swap back in.
-Pull trans for rebuild to discover rebuild kit is incomplete..............

Fair to say enough is enough yet?

Frank is the great grandson of the famous Murphy who has that law........:gee:

AND, within the same 24 hour period:

- XJ Tranny goes wacky and imobile;
- Stratus take a shite. again.
- Frank wacks his noggin at the steel yard;
- Frank has a yard long steel shard removed from his eye/brain.

I think Ira's on to something -- mods need to change frank's moniker to "Frank 'Murphy' Z" ;)

There are days when I'd love to just quit...everything. But then where would that leave me?

Most of us can relate my friend, quitting has crossed my mind a time or two....... but I aint quit a thing in my life........... so why start now:passgas:

Anyone wanna buy an A/C or 12?

garage heaters? Gonna be cold soon enough.

Hey, I already tried that......... but you were worried about some stoopid permit/license thing.......

:D

What a long day! Made a dent in the rebuild effort...but still have a lot to do. I cannot believe how many parts are in this damn thing...Gotta be about a brazillion or two.

We found quite a few damaged parts that need to be replaced.

I'm not gonna guesstimate a completion date...cuz I'd be wrong.

My friend told me before we got started that Ford trannies are a bitch to rebuild....I can now appreciate his perspective.

Wow.....

Man Frank, you have been having a run of crappy luck. At least yours are mechanical instead of medical. I've been hobbling around for 18 months and had two surgeries, now they want to cut again. So I understand about one thing after another. To bad you don't live closer, I would have been happy to help but the 3 hour commute kind of limits things.

I will pray for an end to the mechanical problems. Its about all I can do to help.

This is what i've been working on:
E4OD-2.jpg

And we still haven't torn the valve bodies apart yet.

All those parts had numbers on them corresponding to the picture, right?

All I can say is................ ......... that is a LOT of parts! I hope you can keep track of that mess.... I thought I had it bad when I rebuilt a TF727. I hope your luck changes for the good soon!

holy mother of god!

you got some crappy luck there man.

Is there a manual transmission you could swap in instead?

Also this is why I am a paranoid man and do not bring in my cores until the new stuff has been running for a week or two... if ever.

Is there a manual transmission you could swap in instead?

A ZF5 or ZF6 would be a damn-near direct swap, pretty simple job really.

It'd be a helluva lot easier to just drop a ZF trans in and forget about it... but it's be cheaper to just rebuild the E4OD....
