I've been reading up on new tires. Read posts here, various other forums and even the FB page. Currently torn between duratracs and falken wildpeaks in the 33/12.5 variety. Any firsthand experience with these in the sierras? Probably just going to pick up 4 new this week as my 35s are needing to be switched out. Too old for street use but tons of tread for a trail vehicle so I'll sell them to recoup some cost.

I have duratracs on the MJ. of course its only been a few weeks and only 3 trips to work on them. they are only 49 pounds each and actually available. I think they will be fine. once I start wheeling the thing you'll see if I start popping them or not.

They seem to be a lighter tire, which would help on mpg a little. The duratracs look nice too. If I get them through one place I can get the 3 year replacement plan if I ruin one. Maybe I'll pick them up tomorrow. Mtr Kevlar look great too but would be on back order and cost quite a bit more.

If I did not get 3 of them used for 150$ and paid for one new one, and if I was buying all new, I would go wrangler MTR.

4WP should have a crap load of them. When I ordered mine I got them 2 days later (33x12.50). The LA store got a huge shipment 2 months ago and it took 2 days to ship them to the Sacramento store. Just talk to a manager in store and dont take their first price. I got mine lowered to supposed dealer price.. (dont know how true that is) $960 out the door for 4 tires unmounted with the road hazard warranty during their $50 immediate rebate... Plus a $60 Goodyear mail-in rebate.

We run the Falken Wildpeaks. While we do groove the shit out of our 35's, our 33's we cut a light pattern into (short course racing) and find that they work *very* well. They grab better in the dirt than our kevlars did, although not quite as well on rock.

When I do finally buy a camping/light trail rig here later this year, I'll probably put 33" wildpeaks on it as well.
