I think its because of the poll. if someone votes it brings it back up

I just voted  .

It's the only way to see the results
(although the results are pretty much what I expected so there really wasn't much point in voting, was there?)

hey i got an idea go ask a ricer to race in 2 ft of mud.yup it is funny to see a loud buzzing jap crap go no-where.or when they hit a bump and go boing boing.i love to go over train tracks at 50 mph next to a lowered honda.heh heh heh.scares the crap out of them EVERY time.i live in south florida and let me tell you, man, they are everywhere.its funny when i pulled up to one yesterday at work in a 2006 7.0 liter zo6 vette.down rite spanked him, hell i pulled away and looked at the speedo reading 70 and he was still at the light!um i work at a chevy dealer as a tech, god i love my job. :us: :conceited

I seen a a lowered hyundai go over a set of tracks once, it was halarious because he was bouncing all over the place and we were doing only around 20-25 km/h. He almost lost control of the car and was swirving over to the left lane. We just about lost control of our car laughing are asses off. Apearently he welded something on his suspension and all the welds broke on all four corners so basically we think hes driving on bump stops.

I wasn't too sure about that either. I've always thought they had solid front but I keep having a picture in my head of an independant front. Some of the first cherokees had a independant front. Maybe the Eagle used the same system.

Well I have an AMC Eagle and mine is solid front axle so... Also I wouldn't think any other eagles would differ because of AMC being about to go under and not having any money to do anything different.

i just found this thread and didn't read all the way through
but you say you want an MJ why not make your life easier and pick up a GMC syclone.
There AWD, and come turboed already. Stock 7/8's of the ricers won't be able to touch you. Do some mods and you'll see 11's all day long.

I almost bought one untill for some reason i bought a crappy wrx, i regret it everday, wish i would of bought the syclone.

This thread had gotten me all worked up inside (wont sleep good tonight).

Muscle cars are cool no doubt. SO are the latest line of muscle trucks, Lightning, Dodge SRT? Chevy Joe Gibbs etc. The only problem as I see it is that they LOOK fast. You get beat by something with Lime Green paint and and a 426, it's no suprise. Same for a Grand Nat'l, Mustang etc. OBVIOUS and boring (to me).

My fondest memories were of street racing up here in Brockton, MA.
The are a few cars that still stick with me.

1) A mid-eighties Jeep CJ7 that outran EVERY 5.0 Ford I ever witnessed (Almost pulling the front tires (33").

2) A 4 door 70-something Dart. Rusty and gray 4 door. You had to see it, The rear sagged like Granpas car... AWESOME! Est. 13 sec.

3) A 70 El Camino SS (I know it LOOKS fast). This thing had documented 10.08 times if I remember. The best part was he towed a 20' boat and trailer all over the place with it. He DROVE it to NE Dragway. He also lined up about 10 car-lengths behind the two cars at the light, he not only catch them but pass the by maybe two lengths by the "1/4 mile" highway sign.

I guess my point here is getting beat bad by a crazy looking car aint' HALF as bad as say getting WASTED by a "Limited" Cherokee with gold lace wheels and pinstripping!

I know there's a guy on-line with a Chrysler turbo minivan that kicks some serious ass.

Crappy WRX? Are you sure that you got a WRX? I've never seen those two words together... Crappy compared to the build quality of a Syclone? :laugh3:

I'll take it if you don't want it. That way I can have two; one for gravel/snow and one for tarmac.

Oh, and my lowered Asian car doesn't have any trouble jumping railroad tracks. The Australian-made 50mm diameter struts (DMS Giants, street) handle that with ease.

Off-road Jeeps make more sense. On-road, on almost ANY road in almost ANY condition, AWD cars like Imprezas and EVOs makes more sense. Motorsports competition has shown that on a gravel road, the "middle ground" between off-road and paved roads, the AWD rally-based cars are superior. When the roads get paved the cars gain even more of a performance advantage.

RWD vehicles with enough horsepower to compete with modded AWD cars must have big, sticky rear tires. That gives an advantage in ideal conditions (dry, paved, straight, flat) but a disadvantage everywhere else.

Am I the only one that cares about a low center of gravity? Am I the only one that likes to corner?

LMAO it's soo funny when you can say "DUDE, YOU JUST GOT BEAT BY A JEEP!" :paperwork i mean, what can they say? it's got to be the most embarrassing loss EVER:paperwork oh, the shame of it...:laugh3:

"On the Road

The 2004 Subaru Forester 2.5XT scats 0-to-60 in 5.3 seconds. Not long ago, such a rapid rush was the province of sport sedans or cars. But not once did I climb behind the wheel with less than a grin on my face. I scatted across intersections and stunned Mustang drivers. "What is that?" I could almost hear them ask. Well, it's almost a Subaru WRX with a boxy body, that's what. Its four-cylinder, 2.5-liter boxer engine pumps out 210 horsepower at 5,600 rpm and 235 lb-ft of torque at 3,600 rpm. And it weighs only 3,210 pounds. Atop that 2.5-liter four is a turbocharger detuned from the WRX specs, but providing enough boost to snap heads back. Don't worry about tire spin on launch, even in the worst of conditions, thanks to Subaru's all-wheel-drive all the time. The clutch is light and easy to engage. A five-speed manual transmission is standard and shifts without fuss. Braking is not up to acceleration, but sufficient for non-rally use. An anti-lock brake system is standard. Gas mileage is estimated at 18 city and 23 highway. Figure about 20 if you drive it hard, as it begs to be driven. Begs? It rips off a quarter-mile in 13.8 seconds, an eyeblink slower than the almost-$90,000 Porsche Cayenne Turbo sport-utility."

How about; "You just got beat by a BONE STOCK wagon?". The best thing is that the XT comes with larger tires than a regular Impreza, so sportier tires make the car quicker yet by lowering the already short gearing. Of course the car takes to almost all the aftermarket available to the STi model, so 5.3 second 0-60 is just a starting point.

Dad and I saw that van in person at a local SDAC meeting several years ago when it was still only a 14 second van, theres just something wrong with a beat up, straight piped, woody Caravan laying 10' of rubber while driving through a parking lot, without use of the parking brake :firedevil

I like the idea of the old Cheronkee, but I'd go one step further.........A beat up Briarwood! The wood stickers would just make it worse that being beat by a Cherokee, being beat by a woody Cherokee!

There is one disadvantage of doing that with a Forester (besides the greenie, lesbo stereotype thing), if the driver is familiar enough with other vehicles he may know what you're Subi can do. If I was going to do a late model import with the same stereotypic demographic, I'd go New Beetle turbo.

I guess I'm a super-duper true American. I notice little things like the gauge clusters in my XJs are made by Nippon Seiki. Nippon means Japan. Think about that next time you slide behind the wheel of your Jeep. You are looking directly at a part that is Japanese as possible. Thanks for supporting the Japanese auto industry!

The real problem is that the many of us aren't given the choice of supporting domestic cars if we want anything besides a FWD rental car. Mid-engined? Turbo? AWD? Lightweight roadster? Direct Shift Gearbox? No, no, no, no, and no.

So that's why I had to replace mine twice, thanks I thought it was just me then.

Can't think of too many things wrong with Subaru's or their counterpart the Lancer. Although there's one thing I don't like about them is that they like to lift wheels off the ground around hard cornering. I don't know if that's a bad thing because I've never drove one nor plan too since they would not be comfortable for me (sat in one, buddies Subaru STI) to drive hard, which happens to be another personal thing I don't like. Good handling if it is drifting around the corner but slow trying to hug hard corners with it. He liked his Subaru ti'll he started driving hard with it, said it handled good but felt like ass. He got rid of it, said that he still likes them but doesn't want to own one.

The last ass that I handled felt pretty good, but that's another story.

How much driving/modding experience does your buddy have? Does he know how to trail brake or install a thicker rear sway bar? Or is his other car a Porsche?

Well I smoked a chesse stang ( V6 mustang) the other day I dont know if she knew we were racing, but I smoked her anyway. LOL

Cool! Earlier today I WASTED an Iveco 20' box van (diesel). I went straight at the light and he turned right but I had him out of the hole.

Seriously, though. I want to street race my Cherokee. I have two and my DD I think should be hotrodded! It's sooooooooo long between off-road outings and I get bored. Plus it seems every time I come to a light with two lanes going straight, the idiot next to me wants to get a jump on me. I always pick the inside lane 'cause the right lane drops off and it's illegal to pass on the right.

I'm 35 and a father of 1 (plus one on the way) and I feel the need to act like a punk kid again (a little bit anyway).

I'd REALLY love to hotrod a fullsize Diesel but soon enough THOSE wont qualify as SLEEPERS either.

I think right now (Dec. 05) the XJ is the ultimate sleeper vehicle.

I don't know...

LOL My 99 XJ is gonna be a sleeper as soon as hunting season is over I'm having a Banks header and Magnaflow cat back installed. I already got the parts I just have'nt been able to find time to get them installed with hunting season and all. Eventually I plan on getting a 62 mm TB to boot.

As much as I'm looking for power I'd like some better gas mileage. Has anyone noticed a difference w/this part installed?
