The tale of the $500 XJ

thanks guys!! I'll be hunting for a new front bumper. Preferably with a winch plate.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Sure we can call it the mashed potato!!!

Haha gordo I'll be back in California on Sunday. I'll post pics then. Some have already seen them on the book of faces.

So finally back in california and finally have a little time to sit down and update this blog/thread thingy.

Here are pictures from the accident. The snow had just began to fall when it happened and after the trooper was done with everything there was a little over an inch of snow on the ground.

Here is the potato. The bumper corner was the biggest damage.

Where my jeep is, is what track I was following through that turn. She was 100% in my lane.

Drove the jeep just shy of 3,000 miles. California, Colorado, and back. Went through deep snow, ice, white out conditions, car accident, and did some wheeling too. And jumped up to 35's.

Anyone ever seen a Ford Ranger that looked like this?
IMG_2815_zps1de87009.jpg

While driving down the 15 just outside of baker I saw this lady spin off the road and hit a joshua tree that caused her car to roll. A few others and I stopped right away and pulled her from the car and then we rolled her car back over for her. She was completely unhurt, just shocked.

Thanks man! Yeah, like I said, her car took most of the damage. I more or less just drove up her fender.

Glad you are ok dude!

Thanks guys! I'm glad I was able to drive the potato back. It is appearing that there is some suspension/axle damage from the crash. It just doesn't feel right. Jon how's the silverback since the roll?

sorry to hear that something is up. I haven't driven the silverback and I have been making slow progress. I have 2 suspension seats I need to mount and add more tube work for the harnesses and then finish dialing in the brakes - I have to modify the booster pushrod into the MC, finish making brake lines, wire up the rear line lock, and finish grinding down a rear brake caliper, then bleed it all.

Wow sounds like you've still got a bit to do. Next time I'm up in sac I'd be willing to swing by and help ya out if you're still working on it.

Yep something is way wrong. There is a clunk when the steering wheel is at center and moved left or right just slightly. Also now around 40mph it feels like my drivers side tire is about to tear off at the ball joints. There is also a faint howl coming from the front axle. It also feels like the upper control arm on the drivers side isn't connected anymore, even though it is.

It's also walking all over the road now and has random hard spots in the steering.

Good thing you have a spare 30 at my house. Haha. Get the $ from her insurance and fund the rebuild
