I'm surprised that hasn't sold yet, I saw it a while back on Craigslist. Doing a smog-able I6 swap I would think would be as easy as getting the engine, computer, smog equipment, motor mounts, radiator, fan, all that stuff out and transfer it over. Good to find a donor Cherokee someplace, heck you could get a rear end out of the Cherokee and have 4.5" of lift already in the rear, since the rear end needs swapping. Stick some coils on and a trackbar, maybe adj. lower control arms and you got yourself a lifted Comanche. And if you found a donor 4x4 Cherokee, swap out the front axle, tcase and all the other stuff to have a 4x4 Comanche. I'd be guessing $500 for that Comanche, find a good beater XJ for maybe $500-1000.

Front windshield was just replaced. Unfortunately driver window and rear window need to be replaced. Some front end damage, but nothing detrimental. Back hatch door does not open but can be fixed. No A/C. Power windows and locks with remote. CD deck needs to be replaced, i have one i can give if you buy the truck. 4 door. Engine runs fine, transmission was rebuilt a year ago. I have had this truck for 5 years and it has never broken down on me."
