So I rebuilt the D44a in the 5.9 ZJ, I need to get about another half-turn out of the pinion nut to get the preload right, but the crush sleeve ain't crushing. I've gotten up to around 500 ft-lb on it so far and it's not moving.

Any stupid tricks I might not have thought of?

Use an 8.8.

What was wrong with the 44a?

Pretty much everything, but I got all the parts for under $200 (including new clutch plates for rebuilding the trac-lok) and I did the entire thing in an evening.

Except, crush the crush sleeve.

It's back together now and driving as I needed to move it away from the front of my garage, I looked quickly for an 8.8 but didn't find any, and rather than dick around with a bracket kit or build something, I just wanted to get it turned around quick as it's been my DD for the last two months. If I get or borrow a badass enough impact gun it's easy to just pull the driveshaft and go after it a little bit more.

If I didn't already have it sealed up, lubed, and driving I'd probably just put the old sleeve back in.

How much were you looking for on it?

Honestly it's apart and in dry storage, will take a lot to get it back together. With all parts (forgot I also have an extra rear different to go with it too), I was pretty firm at 500.

Check fuel pressure, might be cutting out. I chased issues like that once

Def a fuel issue, mine did the same at nacfest last year, was a clogged filter

Yeah thats what I thought after doing some searching, honestly surprised I haven't had to touch the fuel system up until now. I'll try the filter next.

Still got it if you want it.

Definitely still want to grab that as a spare at some point
