Ok serious tech question. Going to be replacing a fuel pump in a Dodge Caliber tomorrow night in an apartment complex parking lot. Thankfully, you remove the rear seat and the pump is right there.
Its a no start, cranking and has spark. Pulled fuel rail to check and no fuel to prime or during cranking. What is weird is I hear a weird buzzing/humming coming from under the hood when key is on. Only thing is, there aren't any relays. There is one fuse box in the entire car, its under the hood, and its called the Totally Integrated Power Module (TIPM). I guess Dodge has a history of those being faulty.
After checking everything else I used a DMM to confirm that there is 10v-11v when key is in on position, and spikes when first turned and when cranking. So the pump is getting power, but everyone agree the pump is dead?
Also, how does one dispose of an old fuel pump?
