Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Finished the aluminum head stuff over the weekend. Sounds good, solid oil pressure, more balls, no more leaking header bolts, etc. V-bands are 1000x easier than flanges. I need to get this thing on the dyno now.

Also went to do an exhaust gasket on Kate's Sentra. Turns out the flange was rotting off the pipe by the muffler. $100 for a new one and couldn't get it same day. Booger welded what was left of the metal back together. Quiet as a mouse.

Probably going to retorque/check things over on the MJ tonight, and then do a bit more cleanup in the garage this week. Should hopefully start on the duster at some point now...even though I've been saying that since May

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

my buddy trevor and i were contemplating building a beater XJ rig to run in local (read:NJ) amateur drift events. think 5spd 2wd XJ, lowered (ala team petty cash), 4:10 or 4:56 rear welded... big ole handbrake, grind down the stops on the steering knuckles and run a longer, flat pitman arm for a ghetto steering quickener and steering lock increase.

think itll work?

Did you see what they had to do to the front beam to lower it that much? The beam is like 2" off the ground now.

Why not just buy a steering quickener? They're like $80

You'll need different control arms if you want more steering.

Good luck finding a cheap 5-speed 2WD XJ in goodish shape around you.

The longer pitman would give us more throw too.

WJ control arms

Can I just convert a 4x4?

Good shape for us means not rotted to death or rolled twice. We can do floor repair and paint.

If you lowered it and installed WJ lowers I'd imagine you'd be a little bit forward which would be extra gay if it's lowered since it would be lowered and more low and more axle being more forward by a distance that I forget because it's been like a long time since I put WJ lowers in a jeep but hey what's up sentences don't need periods lowered XJS YAH

We have a nice black and white striped kitty cat outside of work, he smells funny though

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Do it Adam!

Also the more forward the axle the better your weight distribution. It would be like moving the engine back.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

old honda civic hatchbacks towing sail boats doing 70 when the road is flooded are scary to be around when driving

Anyone know any French

I had to do the same exact repair on the ex's 2010 sentra. It fell apart the day we were trading it in.

That was also with the 6.0. Not sure if he had to do it to get that low with the 4.0

Sounds like your budget Line Mtn racer plans.........

Cheap racing isn't cheap.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

Yeah good luck with that.

You can certainly plan to build something cheap, but don't forget all the other expenses that go along with it (i.e. safety items, registrations, fuel to get it to events, whos going to tow it, etc.).

The main reason I'm not racing my MJ this year at Line Mtn is the cost of fuel. It's about $400 in fuel to get down there and back and fill the tank in the MJ.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

the club loose events are pretty lax as far as safety gear goes. you can bring your brand new scion FRS with a helmet and fire extinguisher and drift until your tires explode. i think its 85 bucks to race? but yea, money is still money.

trevor has an 09 doge 1500 and a trailer, so that isnt an issue.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread aka North America Home Owners Association Thread

I could easily build a racecar with $300
