THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I plan on being there assuming my jeeps still alive.

Which brings me to my next point. Can I run with low powersteering fluid to work? I have a pin hole and will be replacing the line after work.

Just fill it with spit and urine

i really want some bacon right now...

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Suppose I can get the jeep ready for tomorrow. But this steak looks really good

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

misfiring 2000 xj not "heat soak" dam jeeps... well got to look at it a little and its a bad misfire but is not "heat soak" like other 2000-2001 its has codes for multiple cylinder misfire, cylinder misfire #1, misfire #2, misfire #3, misfire #4, misfire #6, and bad primary circuit #3 in coil or something like that...looking through misfire counter on scanner #5 is misfiring just nowhere near as much as other cylinders...unplugging injectors changes nothing so all injectors are operating...believed to be good ckp installed...believed to be good coil rail put in...

starting to think jeep is in limp mode so even with new parts it wouldnt notice unless ecm was reset?

things to check monday...i never synchronized cam sensor when installing motor, ohm check both coils in my possession, kick it...

vehicle stumbles and stutters on accel/ pressing gas in park, lopey rough idle, stalls, cel flashing, cant drive it nowhere cold or warm....

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

spent most of the day yesterday redoing some wiring and such on my father in law's 65 mustang. swapped out the puller fan and shroud for a bigger pusher fan and no shrould (was overheating on the highway, prob bc the shroud covered almost half of the radiator. swapped out the blown MSD coil for a new one, and of course cleaned up the wiring up there. was a DISASTER. holy shit. i know i've done things quick or "temporary" and just left it but this thing had wires connected at one side and not connected at the other, and wire nuts everywhere. under the dash is a joke. there are scotchloks off of scotchlocks off of splices with wire nuts and no rhyme or reason to wire routing or neatness. theres new wiring mixed in with wiring from 1965 and everything in between.

any reasoning against running an aux fuse panel in the passenger compartment somewhere for accessories (radio, gauges, etc)? then i'll just add a kill switch for it next to his current fan and ignition switches so it doesnt drain the battery.

Welcome to the world of muscle car electrical systems. They're a nightmare. And Mopars are probably the worst offenders.

Is there a factory fuseblock somewhere? Mopars had it behind the glovebox using glass fuses. I'd cut that out, splice in a modern mini-fuse panel with more circuits, and go from there. I'd also ditch the factory ammeter and run a voltage gauge so you don't have serious current running through the dash.

Also, the fan isn't doing shit at highway speeds. You're relying on direct airflow through the radiator. That's either a waterpump issue or something else. By eliminating the puller fan and adding a pusher fan, you probably made the issue worse.

Buttoned up the rest of the 440 yesterday morning. Everything went together super smooth, Edelbrock certainly makes it easy. Plenty of pushrod clearance and rocker to spring retainer clearance, and all the valve stems were right on the money with the roller tips on the rockers.

All I have left to do is finish filling the block with coolant, fill it with oil, weld on some v-bands, and light the thing off. Maybe by next weekend I'll be ready to do that.

Also finished moving the rest of the firewood away from the deck. What a disaster. The dude had a pile of PT 2x4s and 2x2s to support the whole mess, half the firewood was just rotted, mad spiders and shit, etc. So happy that's over and done with. I have a big mess of rotted plywood to bring to the dump tomorrow too.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

he already bought the fan, so i tossed it in. he wanted to add that fan as a pusher WITH the old fan still in there. my buddy who has a 600+hp 440 68 cuda was looking it over with me saturday night. you'd probably get along with him colin . he thinks the best option is a mechanical fan, so thats next if this doesnt work. i figured you can just shut the fan off on the highway.

idk where the fuse box is, its probably buried underneath the birds nest of wiring. my plan was to start with what isnt working, pull the wires, and re-wire to fix. most important is the water temp gauge isnt moving, but it does light up. i probably knocked the sender wire loose somewhere. i'll check the ammeter thing, i know it has a full GT cluster but idk if it had one.

he wants to sell the car, but he isnt in a rush. i made a deal with him that if i fix it i get to cruise around with it. gonna be a tough sell i think, not a lot of people want a coupe. i'm a fastback guy myself.

rob, it's running a stat, not sure if there is a 160 or 180 in there. i think a 180. and when he says overheats, he says 200F. so its not super hot, but it is warm. he also drives it like a grandma.
