THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

first time i've had to do them since owning the truck (since 2007). I was looking for an upgrade balljoint if possible (does such a thing really exist?)

the spicer ones i used on my 44 were high quality. i wouldnt trust moog, and i would spend the money on synergy ones for a 30 that gets wheeled.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Myself and Collins brother had moog's go out in a few months Spicer or nothing

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I agree. Just go with Spicer. The only thing about the Spicer ones is that they don't make them oversized (like the Moog ones) so if your inner C is larger than stock then they won't press in with much force.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

word. Spicer it is.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I'm not sure about the balljoints, but the spicer u joints I just got are sub par.

pretty sure spicer has gone to shit and is slapping their logo on a box of guaranteed crap.

Certain sizes are having the trunions outsourced. The caps/bearings/seals/etc are still USA but some of the crosses are Mexico or China.

on the highway? did you need new underpants?

That's scary as hell. Eff that shit.

Chris, if you want to read more on tuning/theory check out the MS manual.

http://www.megamanual.com/index.html

Some stuff is specific to megasquirt, but there's a lot of useful equations/algorithms for a bunch of different things.

Meh. It was a low speed event, no drama, just a bunch of tire scrubbing to lurch it into a parking lot.

Of course the few miles before were on a twisty canal road taking a backway around highway traffic, which would have been a far worse scenario. It popped apart hitting the dip before the crown crossing the highway, as I was leaving a red light. Literally 5 mph.

Fail pic attached.

And yeah the Holley literature gets way into that stuff too...I will say that I find myself paying attention to every little nuance of the way the 5.9ZJ runs now. Knowing how all that stuff works is pretty interesting to me.

Never knew, for example, that the idle air has a 'park' value that it automatically goes to as soon as TPS% is greater than zero, which keeps the engine from stalling when you let off the gas completely. It won't take over again until the engine drops below a certain RPM, at which point there's a set ramp time to reattain idle speed. If the 'park' value lets it run at a higher RPM than the set point it'll never trigger that ramp and leave you with a hanging high idle. Too low and it'll stall out on throttle lift before the ramp can take over. Now every time I hear a car start and idle funny all this crap is the first thing I think of.

Idle tuning, in general, is way more complicated than I thought. PID loops and shit. Brought me back to my control systems classes pretty quick.

took my new to me xj wheeling today was running weird all day idle would lope and it would stumble and stall got worse over time on the first trail... on the way and starting to wheel Mabell it got so bad it wouldnt stay running super bad misfire cel flashing....damn xj

Check your coil or distributor cap I replaced these and mine quit doing that.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Figured out why I'm loosening jam nuts, LCA mounts on the Clayton cross member are bent over, gonna trim em tonight, guess that what happens after 10 years and 3 jeeps

THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

3 months till fest of the rocktober, watsup

I plan on being there assuming my jeeps still alive.

Which brings me to my next point. Can I run with low powersteering fluid to work? I have a pin hole and will be replacing the line after work.
