THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

theres no hassle with a consumer and apple... you simply walk into an apple store.

At mine you NEED an appointment or they say F you come back in like 5 hours when you have an appt.

I just hate the fact that nothing is user/genius serviceable. Even if it's something under warranty, it has to be shipped out for service.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

That may be convenient in the city, but surely not when the closest one is hours away! Way easier to make a 2 minute phone call and have the parts on the doorstep the following day.

*insert typical bill lives in the woods joke here.* you are the minority there, dude. i dont live in "the city" but can choose from 2 apple stores within a half an hour drive, and i think 3 best buys as well.

so it was c then? big whoop, call ahead.

I was in an Apple store once.

I had to shower to get the hipster stank off me when I got home and haven't been back since.

I used to like apple.

nearest one is over an hour away for me too.

I live in a city of 12,000.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

There's one close to me in Nashua, NH. That's also the closest one to Rob. But it's over an hour away for him.

I bought Kate an ASUS laptop. The stupid power connection on the mobo already got ****ed up. I really don't feel like sending it in to get warrantied out considering she uses it everyday for studying/wedding/cooking.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I loved my T61p I had for Intel.

Old old old old Toshiba Satellites were built like brick shit houses too. No idea what the new ones are like. I dropped a backpack with a 6 inch stack of college textbooks in it plus my laptop on the ground, laptop side first, without thinking about it, shattered the screen, it still worked great with an external. Do that to a modern laptop and the hard drive and motherboard are probably goners.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I've always had good luck with dells, Acer not so much. We had a HP desktop back in the day with good luck. And I will NOT get a Mac/apple product. It just may have to wait till July though when I get back from Florida.

idk how bad a hipster is an ohio, but i dont think they are very high on the hipster scale.

just curious... why? i understand they have a high price point but i dont think that is your main reasoning. no judgement, just genuinely curous.. as i hear the "i will NEVER buy apple!!11!1!" thing a fair amount.

Cost is my only reason. And when I get a laptop I like having a 17"+ screen. An Apple would be >$1,500 for a 17" screen.

XJLI;246100663 just curious... why? i understand they have a high price point but i dont think that is your main reasoning. no judgement said:
principle.

apple went from plucky underdog that was willing to work with others and share ideas and knowledge to an evil litigious corporation that put profits above all else, including the advancement of the technology.

that and apps in the itunes store are extortionately priced compared to the android store.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Because everyone says "Apple products just plain work" Then a week later I hear about how much they suck from the same people.

"Apple products just plain work, as long as you continue to buy ridiculously priced apple accessories"

seriously. If you want a wireless printer to work properly with your mac OSX notebook you're springing for the $200 airport router, or your bonjour service will never work correctly and you'll hate everything.

once you drink the Apple kool aid you're all in, no cheaping out.

That's a pain.

Yup. Nice to just get the parts and be able to swap it.

Yeah, again 2min phone call, parts in a day, few minutes to replace and done. No driving, no shipping (maybe return parts with a provided label and surely not ship to fix), no call for an appointment, etc.

Yeah, Asus has a fanboi following like Apple does and I don't get why. At least Apple products are well built.
Cost is my only reason. And when I get a laptop I like having a 17"+ screen. An Apple would be >$1,500 for a 17" screen.
Yeah, the price has come down a little recently but they are still costly. My macbook air was just over $1450 and that's only a 13" screen (yes Adam, I know I could have saved by not doing the i7 and the 8gb of ram and the 256gb drive but with parts not "user replaceable" its not worth not going all out so it lasts a few years.) For the same money in a Dell I got the same thing and at least it can drive 2 external monitors without some high dollar thunderbolt stuff or a 3rd party usb video card.

Could be the OS. I love my macbook air, but I like the Windows OS for many other things (like real Outlook not the mac version). Fusion rules for this reason but that don't help Rob.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

i prefer windows os over mac becasue i am more use to it, when i just to apple stuff i just feel like i am a fish out of water because things are not where they are suppose to be and does not follow what i feel is my natural flow. but again i would say the same if i grew up using apple. on top of that i just like idea that when i am getting new software there is no voice in my head most of the time asking "is my os supported?"

as far as quility apple does make a good product but it is so over priced that it is a joke. the wall wart for my gf's mac book died so she got a knock off one from amazon because it was half the price as the real mac and had 4 starts. the thing got super hot nearly burned herself. i read the review that people gave it and they all were basically "overheats had to take my child to the er for burns because of this but worth it because of the price, 4 out of 5"
