THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Justin, do you get to hunt at the airport or just capture and move things? I know Logan deals a lot with snowy owls

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

From the discussion we had it is hunting not trapping.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Sounds fun. The only thing I hope is that it's not rare/cool things, but it probably includes everything.

HDDs are easy to swap if the rest of the machine is up to par.

Windows 8/8.1 but good luck trying to buy a new Windows PC without it.

8.1.1 made it so the desktop (by default the option as been there) always shows first and once you get used to the new start menu I find it WAY faster. I still never use any programs beyond "desktop mode" though.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

a few of the dell's have 7 still availible, this is the 2nd hd for this comp, i really dont know shit about the internals on them

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Do you know what processor it has? Usually a pretty good indication if it is worth putting more money into or not.
Right Click on my computer -> Properties and it should be listed in there.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Eh, it's on the lower side of the i series, similar to what the celeron was to the pentium.
Get something with an i5 or an i7 ($$ if you don't game) and it should last quite awhile.

It really comes down to what do you want to spend?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

5-800 i guess, deal is i can get it through my moms work with interest free payments over a year

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Not sure if anyone else on here ever has to go to trade shows, but these days are exhausting. I've walked miles inside this stupid convention center at this point, and most of it is generally a waste of time from our perspective. But it's business, and networking, and the things that happen at the restaurants and bars in the evenings and nights after the conference is done are more valuable than the time in the conference itself.

Last night was rough. It was a Brazilian steakhouse with multiple local beers, then a trip to this local blues club afterwards (the Slippery Noodle)...luckily there was always someone higher than me to sign for the tab. And y'all know how I am...and I am not the worst by any means when it comes to corporate nights out. Which surprises me.

Got moving at 7 AM this morning and the German guy I'm with had to be poured out of the taxi last night...he 'made it' to our ride to our first few meetings but I think I finally found his limit. He's a trooper though...

Went to a wood mill today and talked to a guy with the title of "saw filer" for almost 45 minutes...holy hell I didn't know that job existed, let alone what it entailed. The saws this place gets, which are not the largest by any means, are 20' x 12" wide, about $2k eah, and this guy keeps the teeth and the band material in top shape - 0.004" is his target for blade flatness and tooth/kerf deviation. Neat stuff.

Then we went to a place that makes veneers and you wanna talk about tolerance...cutting such thin layers from woods is insane on a mass production scale. I learned a lot about wood today.

Heading down to Kentucky in the morning to visit a stainless steel plant...then a stamping/sheet mill on the way towards Michigan...then a ****load of places in Michigan on Friday. Fun times. :)

edit: meanwhile there's a box with a ring & pinion set sitting on my porch at home, to be followed by a pair of Eaton E-lockers, and a Holley ECU, and a bunch of other shit...the timing of this trip sucks. Shooting for the Crandon, WI shortcourse race in August as my first event with a shakedown in Harlan, KY in July...

blah blah blah I learned a lot about wood today. Blah blah blah

Thought you knew all about wood already

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

So Lokar builds the dipsticks to order apparently (well, the universal ones anyway).

Shipped it out within 48 hours. That's not bad.

Should get it next week sometime. Probably drop the pan on Friday and see if I can get it welded up at Gary's. I'll probably cut the fitting off my old dipstick, thread it in the pan, and TIG it in for good measure.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Should have the welding done on the jeep this weekend cept for rear limiting straps and doing something about my frt bumps top towers. Really don't care about painting the rear anymore

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

And Stoll gotta order rear limiting straps and a winch fairlead
