THe NAC Lots-O-BFG KO2 Thread

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

got this request for a change in my software from a manager in a different department

manager: can you change it to display the time that the machine changed temperature setting
me: sure easy
manager: great but instead of having the time displayed in military time or AM/PM can you just morning, afternoon, evening, and night
me: i can but i wont because its not worth the effort. why would you want it that way?
manager: because it would be easier to tell the time of day

Gearing party this weekend or what?

Nope. The 60 is getting tossed under for mock-up Saturday and fully welded Sunday. Then during the week Ross and I are going to bang out the 14-bolt.

Next weekend????

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

not me. When we geared my front 44 the brand new nut had the threads strip right out of it, but that was a completely fluke (and pretty awesome/impressive) occurrence...

ahh that might be what I was thinking of. Maybe they just plain forgot to harden that batch of nuts :explosion

I'm at work and it's dead. This blows, no toolmakers and one operator.... Sadly I'm the only tool maker (and at that I'm only an apprentice) in this ****ing wing. So screw me side way, and their are two jobs that I need to get done before 5 yet we don't have the tooling and it won't be here till next week.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

You're using the wrong kind of nut for that application if it's "vibrating loose"...

It actually vibrates the most at 55 or so, but it usually comes loose after 30-40 minutes at ~70-80mph. AKA speed of traffic on i90.

Tell that to Crown :dunno:

I'm using the nut they included, with more torque on it than they told me to use.

I'm gonna take it off tonight, rip the rubber star washer thing out, blast it with RTV, and crank it back down. I've installed 3-4 of them for other people using that method and none of them have come loose, this is the first time I've seen a rubber washer included.

The SYE is based off the front output of the NP242. It uses the same yoke and yoke washer (the rubber one). SEE?!?!?!

Nope. I'll probably start tearing the 60 apart next week after work, get bored, and start gearing it. I still have all my setup bearings too. Next weekend will probably be tearing apart the 14b and cutting the bottom off. Once the hole is cut and patch piece is made, drag it over to my shop for welding and probably start gearing that one.

Nevermind Colin. I forgot Ross is an animal.

Good to know, I had no idea the yoke was a factory part.

No idea why the damn thing won't stay stuck, either. It's pissing me off and I know RTV will work, so on it goes while I wait for the airplane's RTOS stability test to complete. :gee:

What about kevlars or mtz's?

I'm on the fence between the km2s and mtrs. I know I love the km2s cause I ran them before, but part of me wants to try the MTRs. I just saw those grabbers and thought the used jeep part god had skilled on me. But I was wrong

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

How hard would it be to swap a tj tub onto a yj frame?

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Harder than buying an xj. That's precisely how hard.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

I could get a yj with smashed tub and tj with rotted front frame for free

Didn't Travis (or someone else on here?) nearly ruin a set of gears trying to reuse the old nut and it was a little gunked up and cross threaded on the pinion? Not worth that kind of risk, IMO.

Dat was me. I was using the stock one for set up and it got sick of life and had sharp threads.

Re: THe NAC Lots-O-Post Thread

Alrdy posted in the Classifieds....but I am looking for stock 98ish Dana 30 knuckles in good shape....ANYONE?

**** spending 450 at Quadratec!

Grab one of the LP30's that people are practically giving away in the for sale section, pull the knuckles, sell the shafts, scrap the housing, and I bet you'd be out $0. Knuckles are the same.
