trying to resolve a clack-clack-clack noise at low speeds and oscillating vibration/hum at high speed. I rebuilt both sides of my front driveshaft including the centering ball assembly. Noise is still there.

Noise and vibration almost completely goes away when the front shaft is out, 4x4 works fine but above 40mph in 4HI noise/vibration is unbearable. Both axle shaft ujoints are good and tight, unit bearings are new and noise free.

Only things i can find are the front pinion rotates (more than it's supposed to/normal levels???) and the slip yoke has a little lateral play. There is no in-out or lateral play in the pinion. Could either of these cause the issue? I plan on pulling the cover off the front to check over the gears in the near future but trying to figure out what may be causing the issue.

That shaft is shot, slip should have zero play.

balls. Better than my gears being shot i guess. Still doesn't really explain the noise though...

If you guys get sick of it let me know lol. You have to watch out for people with weird names, chicks with their boobs hanging out and their profile set to "male" and people who claim to be from a prestigious university yet have a blurry generic photo of someone sitting at a desk.
